Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer with 4+ years of experience in mechanical product design and development. The candidate should have robust hands-on experience in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ANSYS/Abaqus, concept development, 3D modelling, detailed 2D manufacturing drawings, GD&T; and tolerance definition. The role will involve leading design activities, coordinating FEA, supporting vendors and production, managing design revisions, and incorporating customer design requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead mechanical design and development activities from concept to final product release.
- Develop and evaluate design concepts based on customer requirements, functional specifications and engineering requirements.
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies and configurations using SolidWorks.
- Prepare accurate 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings using SolidWorks/AutoCAD.
- Define GD&T;, dimensional tolerances, fits, surface finish and critical-to-quality characteristics.
- Review drawings and designs for functionality, manufacturability, assembly and cost effectiveness.
- Manage design revisions, engineering changes and drawing updates throughout the product lifecycle.
- Maintain proper revision control of 3D models, drawings, BOMs and engineering documentation.
- Coordinate with FEA/CAE teams for structural, thermal and other applicable analyses using ANSYS/Abaqus.
- Review and interpret FEA results and incorporate necessary design improvements.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Purchase and other departments to resolve design and manufacturing issues.
- Provide technical support to vendors regarding drawings, specifications, tolerances, materials and manufacturing requirements.
- Review vendor technical queries and provide appropriate engineering clarifications.
- Incorporate customer design changes, technical specifications and feedback into product designs.
- Participate in customer discussions related to technical/design requirements wherever required.
- Support prototype development, testing,



validation and design qualification activities.
- Conduct design reviews and identify opportunities for product improvement and cost optimization.
- Support root-cause analysis of design-related quality and manufacturing issues.
- Prepare and maintain BOMs, design documents, drawings, engineering change notes and technical records.
- Ensure released designs meet applicable customer requirements and company Quality Management System requirements.

Software Skills

Required:

- SolidWorks - Advanced 3D modelling, assemblies, configurations and drawing creation.
- AutoCAD - Detailed 2D drafting and manufacturing drawings.
- ANSYS / Abaqus - Working knowledge of FEA and experience coordinating analysis activities.

Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of mechanical product design and development.
- Excellent understanding of GD&T;, fits, tolerances and engineering drawing standards.
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
- Knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes including:
- CNC Turning
- CNC Milling / VMC
- Grinding
- Drilling
- Fabrication
- Sheet Metal
- Understanding of engineering materials and material selection.
- Ability to perform basic mechanical calculations and design validation.
- Understanding of prototype development and product testing.
- Ability to analyse manufacturing constraints and modify designs accordingly.
- Knowledge of configuration management and engineering change control.
- Awareness of ISO 9001:2015 / AS9100D requirements will be an advantage.

Vendor & Customer Coordination




- Provide technical clarification to vendors for manufacturing drawings and specifications.
- Review vendor feedback and recommend appropriate design modifications.
- Coordinate with vendors during prototype and production development.
- Understand and implement customer design updates and engineering changes.
- Ensure customer requirements are properly incorporated into drawings and design documentation.
- Participate in technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders.

Candidate Profile
- Qualification: B.E./B.Tech - Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 4+ years in Mechanical Design / Product Design / Engineering.
- Strong hands-on experience in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of ANSYS/Abaqus and FEA coordination.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T;, tolerance stack-up, fits and manufacturing drawings.
- Ability to independently handle design activities from concept development through manufacturing support.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Ability to guide junior design engineers and support team development.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline.
