Role & responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior DBA with strong, hands-on expertise across both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will manage database availability, performance, and resiliency across on-premises and Oracle Cloud (OCI) infrastructure, with a strong focus on disaster recovery, tuning, and routine operational database activities.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration

- Administer, monitor, and maintain Oracle (11g/12c/19c/21c) and MS SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) databases in production, staging, and development environments.
- Perform installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades for both database platforms.
- Manage database security, user roles, privileges, and access controls.

Disaster Recovery (DR)

- Design, configure, and maintain DR setups including Oracle Data Guard (Physical/Logical Standby) and SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, and Mirroring.
- Conduct regular DR drills, failover/switchover testing, and document RTO/RPO compliance.
- Troubleshoot replication lag, sync issues, and DR failover incidents.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

- Manage and support databases hosted on Oracle Cloud (Base Database Service, Exadata Cloud Service, Autonomous Database as applicable).
- Handle OCI DBCS provisioning, backup configuration, patching, and monitoring.
- Work with OCI networking, storage, and security constructs as they relate to database hosting.

Performance & Tuning

- Perform SQL query tuning, execution plan analysis, and index optimization across both Oracle and SQL Server.
- Monitor and tune instance-level parameters, memory, I/O, and wait events.
- Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.

Routine DBA Operations

- Perform database cloning (RMAN duplicate, Data Pump, SQL Server backup/restore-based cloning) for refresh and non-production environment builds.
- Execute periodic database refresh activities between environments (Production UAT/Dev), including data masking where required.
- Configure, manage,



and troubleshoot database links (Oracle DB Links, SQL Server Linked Servers) for cross-database/cross-platform connectivity.
- Manage backup and recovery strategies (RMAN, native SQL backups) and validate recovery readiness.

Other

- Maintain documentation for configurations, DR runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams on database-related requirements.
- Participate in on-call/rotational support as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 9+ years of hands-on DBA experience, with solid depth in both Oracle and MS SQL Server (not just exposure to one).
- Strong experience setting up and managing DR solutions (Data Guard, Always On, Log Shipping, or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for database hosting and management.
- Proven expertise in database performance tuning (query, instance, and infrastructure level).
- Practical experience with database cloning and database refresh processes.
- Robust understanding of database links / linked servers and cross-platform connectivity.
- Solid grasp of backup/recovery tools (RMAN, native SQL Server backup/restore).
- Good understanding of database security, patching, and upgrade methodologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and incident-resolution skills under production pressure.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Preferred / Nice to Have

- Oracle OCP / Microsoft SQL Server certification.
- Exposure to Exadata or Autonomous Database.
- Scripting skills (Shell, PowerShell, or Python) for automation of DBA tasks.
- Experience with monitoring tools (OEM, SolarWinds, Zabbix, etc.).
- Experience working in a managed services / multi-client support environment.

Soft Skills

- Strong communication skills to work with cross-functional and client teams.
- Ability to independently own and drive DR and performance initiatives.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-support environment.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to prioritize under pressure during incidents.
