Key Responsibilities

1. Own the architecture, design, and implementation of the backend systems and APIs for our ad marketplace, campaign management, and ad-serving decisioning.

2. Architect and scale the data platforms and analytics pipelines for attribution and ROAS measurement that advertisers and publishers rely on.

3. Design and build the backend infrastructure that lets our autonomous AI agents make campaign and platform decisions reliably at scale.

4. Make and take ownership of key technical decisions on availability, performance, and system design.

5. Work with product managers, backend engineers, and DevOps to ship end-to-end features across the platform.

6. Design and optimize data storage across relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) systems.

7. Mentor engineers, run code and design reviews, and raise the team's technical standards.

8. Set and enforce standards for code quality, security, and performance.

9. Own CI/CD pipelines and improve build, test, and deployment automation.

10. Define and maintain the test strategy, including unit and integration test coverage.

11. Lead cloud infrastructure decisions (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including deployment, scaling, and cost/performance tradeoffs.

12. Lead system design reviews and represent the backend team in architecture discussions.

13. Implement secure authentication and authorization, and make sure sensitive data is encrypted.

Evaluate and introduce event-driven and serverless patterns where they improve scalability or cost.

Requirements

1. 4+ years of backend engineering experience, including building products (not only maintaining them).

2. Deep expertise in at least one backend language and its ecosystem (e.g., Node.js/Express, Python, Java, or Go), with experience owning production services end-to-end.

3. Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB), including ownership of data modeling and scaling decisions.

4. Hands-on experience with Redis or a similar caching layer.

5. Strong RESTful API design skills and working knowledge of API security best practices.

6. Solid understanding of asynchronous programming and event-driven architecture.

7. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and cloud architecture principles.

8. Solid understanding of microservices and scalable system design.

9. Experience mentoring engineers or leading small technical initiatives.

10. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to take a project from ambiguity to delivery.

Good to Have

1. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

2. Exposure to serverless architectures.

3. Familiarity with WebSockets (Socket.io) or message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

4. Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
