PERCEPTYNE ROBOTICS

Senior Accountant Plant, Inventory & Costing

Hyderabad, India | Full-time, plant based

About Perceptyne

Perceptyne is a deep-tech robotics startup building AI-powered semi-humanoid robots for automating dexterous and intelligent tasks on industrial shopfloors spanning electronics assembly, automotive lines, warehouses and food processing. We are pushing the boundaries of robotics and humanmachine collaboration. At Perceptyne, we balance vision with execution, first principles with experience, and disruption with discipline.

Role Overview

This role owns everything that happens between a component arriving at our gate and a finished robot leaving it.

As we scale manufacturing, the questions that matter most to the business become costing questions. What does a unit actually cost to build? What did the last engineering change do to our margin? How much inventory is sitting on the floor, and how much of it is still usable? Today those answers are harder to produce than they should be. This role exists to make them reliable.

You will own material payables, inventory records and valuation, bill of material costing and product cost. This is not a desk role. You will spend a meaningful part of your week with stores, procurement, production and quality, because the numbers only hold if the physical reality behind them is understood.

Who this role is for

Someone with genuine manufacturing costing depth not a generalist accountant who has worked near a factory. If you have owned a costed BOM, run a cycle count programme and defended an inventory valuation to an auditor, this role will feel familiar.Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Accounting and Material Payables

Three-way match of purchase order, goods receipt note and vendor invoice on every material transaction, with defined tolerance limits and exceptions routed for approval rather than absorbed.

Resolution of quantity, rate and specification variances with procurement, stores and quality, and escalation of ageing unresolved items.

¢ Subcontracting and job work accounting material issued to and returned from job workers, conversion cost, and the GST job work return obligations including the 180-day and three-year return timelines for inputs and capital goods.

¢ Capital goods and capital work-in-progress accounting for plant, test rigs, jigs and fixtures.

¢ Vendor master governance for material vendors verification, MSME classification and the 45-day payment obligation under the MSMED Act, and duplicate prevention.

¢ Goods-received-not-invoiced tracking, with a monthly ageing supplied into the close.

2. Inventory Control and Valuation

¢ Ownership of inventory records across raw material, work-in-progress, finished goods, spares and consumables, at both quantity and value.

¢ A perpetual inventory discipline a cycle count programme with defined coverage and frequency by value category, plus full physical verification at period end.

¢ Investigation of count variances to root cause. Adjustment without explanation is not acceptable.

¢ Inventory valuation in accordance with policy, including absorption of conversion cost into work-in-progress and finished goods, and application of the lower of cost or net realisable value test.

¢ Identification and provisioning for slow-moving, non-moving, obsolete and engineering-superseded stock on a rolling basis.

¢ Scrap, rework and rejection accounting, with cost quantified and reported back to production.

¢ Monthly reconciliation of the inventory sub-ledger to the general ledger, with variances explained rather than plugged.

3. Bill of Material Management and Product Costing

¢ Maintenance of costed bills of material in step with engineering, so that the finance BOM and the engineering BOM do not diverge.

¢ Multi-level BOM cost roll-up to arrive at a defensible per-unit product cost across variants and configurations.

¢ Assessment of the cost impact of engineering change notes before implementation, so that design decisions are made with cost visibility.

¢ Standard costing where adopted setting standards, computing material price, material usage, labour and overhead variances, and explaining them monthly.

¢ Overhead absorption rate computation and periodic review against actual activity.

¢ Cost support to pricing, quotation and make-versus-buy decisions.

¢ Monthly publication of per-unit cost and gross margin by product into the management reporting pack.

4. Imports and Landed Cost

¢ Construction of landed cost by absorbing customs duty, freight, insurance, clearing agent charges and port costs into material value.

¢ Import documentation commercial invoice, bill of lading or airway bill, bill of entry together with IGST on imports and the associated input tax credit.

¢ Foreign currency payables, advance remittance tracking, bill of entry closure and IDPMS follow-up with the banker, and exchange difference workings at settlement.

¢ Tracking of duty exemption or concessional scheme benefits where availed, along with the associated obligations.

5. Tax at the Material Interface

¢ Monthly reconciliation of input tax credit between the books and GSTR-2B, with a vendor-wise mismatch tracker and structured follow-up on non-filing vendors.

¢ Identification of blocked and ineligible credits,

and reversal workings where the 180-day payment condition is breached.

¢ TDS determination on material and works contracts, including sections 194C and 194Q and the interaction with TCS under section 206C(1H).

6. Systems

¢ Ownership of the inventory application as a finance-grade system of record, and of its reconciliation to the accounting ledger.

¢ Input into the ERP selection and readiness assessment as production volumes grow you will be the primary user of whatever is chosen.

Qualifications and Skills

Education

¢ CMA or CMA (Inter) strongly preferred this is a cost accounting role in substance.

¢ B.Com or M.Com with demonstrable plant costing experience is acceptable. CA (Inter) with manufacturing exposure also works.

Experience

¢ 58 years in a manufacturing plant finance function.

¢ At least three years in discrete or assembly manufacturing rather than process industry the costing disciplines differ materially.

¢ Hands-on ownership of costed BOMs, inventory valuation and physical verification. Be prepared to discuss specific examples in detail.

¢ Direct experience of purchase order and goods receipt based processing, imports and customs documentation.

Technical Skills

¢ Multi-level BOM cost roll-up; standard costing and variance analysis; overhead absorption.

¢ Inventory valuation, provisioning and cycle count programme design.

¢ Landed cost computation on imports; customs and IGST treatment.

¢ GST input credit reconciliation against GSTR-2B; TDS on procurement.

¢ Hands-on ERP experience; solid Excel.

Attributes

¢ Willingness to be on the shopfloor rather than behind a desk.

¢ Persistence in chasing count variances to root cause rather than writing them off.

¢ The confidence to hold a payment or challenge a BOM when the documentation does not support it.

¢ Comfort working closely with engineers and production staff who do not think in accounting terms.

What Success Looks Like in Year One

¢ Inventory record accuracy against physical count within an agreed tolerance, by value and by line item.

¢ Cycle count coverage achieved against the programme, with variances resolved to root cause within the month.

¢ Inventory sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliation completed monthly with nil unexplained variance.

¢ Costed BOMs aligned to the engineering BOM, with a documented process for keeping them aligned.

¢ Per-unit product cost published on the close calendar every month, and trusted enough to price against.

¢ Material invoices processed through a complete three-way match as standard practice.

¢ Slow-moving and obsolete stock identified and provisioned on a rolling basis, with no year-end surprises.
