ONEONTA, NEW YORK – An accounting position is available for a highly motivated professional in our accounting office. This position is a full-time position during tax season with potential for flexible, part-time hours outside of tax season.
You will be working with a CPA, an Enrolled Agent and an administrative assistant. General duties and additional information for this position are noted below.
Our firm has a culture of strong moral and ethical values. Years of experience for the CPA and EA are more than 35 and 22 years, respectively. We are seeking a professional who shares values and goals as we do. Candidates must also have an eager personality to learn and grow within our firm.
Pay will be commensurate with experience and qualifications of the Oneonta region.

Primary Professional Duties:
- Input client data for tax preparation purposes
- Perform other clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and faxing
- Assist with various other office management tasks, as needed
Potential Additional Duties:
- Bookkeeping for accounting clients (real-time and after-the-fact)
- Assist clients with preparation of financial statements
- Research and interpret accounting and tax rules, regulations and procedures
- Draft correspondence to taxing agencies, clients and other professionals
- Occasional assembly of tax returns
Required Professional Skills:
- Proficient computer skills; especially with QuickBooks, Excel, MSWord, and a professional tax preparation software (interview style software such as TurboTax and H&R; Block are not deemed to be professional software packages by our firm)
- Good communication skills, both verbal and writing
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Additional Beneficial Skills:
- Knowledge of taxation, GAAP and familiarity with the FRF for SMEs is a plus.
- If not already achieved, aspiration to become certified as either a CPA or Enrolled Agent is also a plus.
