Mumbai The Seafood Technologist supports day-to-day quality control, FSSAI regulatory compliance, hygiene & sanitation oversight, and documentation across IOPL's seafood processing, repacking and warehousing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory & Compliance
- Understand and implement FSSAI Act rules & regulations across daily operations.
- Ensure compliance with Schedule-4 hygiene and sanitary requirements at all facilities.
- Monitor new FSSAI and Legal Metrology regulations; support timely renewal of FSSAI, shop establishment, and factory licenses.
Quality Control Operations
- Conduct incoming material quality checks and generate quality reports.
- Prepared Finish Positive Quality report
- Monitor FG (finished goods) packing operations — weight checking, sealing checks and proper labelling
- Maintain hygiene & sanitation standards on the floor per company SOPs
- Monitor temperature and cold-chain parameters during thawing, storage and blast freezing.
Audits & NC Management
- Conduct internal audits
- Track and close non-conformances (NCs) raised during internal or third-party audits.
- Maintain and update self-inspection checklists (daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly) per facility.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain quality records, internal reports, and outside lab test reports.
- Compile, check and approve product specifications and labelling/artwork before use.
- Maintain compliance trackers
Training & Vendor Coordination
- Train food handlers and floor staff on food safety, HACCP, GMP and GHP practices.
- Provide ongoing input to factory staff on quality & food safety issues.
- Coordinate with vendors (pest control, PPE/laundry, packaging suppliers,) to ensure compliance.
- Handle customer complaint investigations related to product/quality issues.
Skills
- Strong understanding of Seafood, food safety & hygiene standards.
- Attention to detail in documentation and record-keeping.
- Good communication skills for staff training and vendor coordination.
- Willingness to travel to multi-site warehouses/facilities as required.
- Proficiency in MS Excel/Office for report generation and tracking.
Required Education and Experience
· B.F.Sc or BSc (Industrial fish and fisheries),
· EIC approved technologist and FOSTAC trained preferably
