Yamada Automation is looking for a hands-on Quality Engineer with solid expertise in engineering drawings, GD&T;, machining quality, CMM/metrology, FAI, PPAP and gear inspection.

The role will take ownership of drawing-based inspection planning and product-quality documentation for machined components - from incoming casting/forging inspection through development, machining, FAI/PPAP and final production quality control. Pasted text (2)

Key Responsibilities

- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T;, datums, limits/fits, surface finish and special characteristics
- Prepare ballooned drawings and characteristic accountability sheets
- Develop incoming, in-process and final inspection plans
- Define appropriate measurement methods, gauges, CMM strategy, sampling frequency and acceptance criteria
- Execute First Article Inspection (FAI) with 100% drawing-characteristic coverage
- Prepare and coordinate PPAP documentation, including Process Flow, PFMEA inputs, Control Plan, MSA, dimensional results, capability studies and PSW
- Operate/coordinate CMM inspection and understand datum alignment, probing strategy and report interpretation
- Use conventional metrology equipment including micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, dial indicators, plug/ring gauges and surface-roughness equipment
- Inspect incoming castings and forgings for machining allowance, distortion, mismatch, surface defects and dimensional condition
- Establish defect marking, mapping,



identification and batch/lot traceability
- Raise and control NCRs and support 5-Why, Fishbone, 8D and corrective-action processes
- Apply SPC, Cp/Cpk, MSA and Gauge R&R; for critical characteristics
- Work closely with Development, Production, Purchase, Maintenance and suppliers to eliminate recurring quality problems

Gear Manufacturing & Inspection KnowledgeThe candidate should have practical knowledge of gear manufacturing and gear inspection, including: Spur Gears | Helical Gears | Splines | Bevel Gears | Hypoid Gears

Understanding of processes such as turning, hobbing, shaping, broaching, bevel gear cutting, heat treatment, grinding, honing/lapping and final inspection is required.

The candidate should understand key gear parameters including module/DP, pressure angle, helix angle, tooth thickness, backlash, lead, profile, runout, crowning and contact pattern and be familiar with appropriate gear inspection methods. Pasted text (2)

Technical Skills RequiredStrong practical knowledge of:

Qualification & Experience

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing or Quality Engineering
- Preferred experience:



4-8 years in machining quality, supplier quality or new product quality
- Experience in automotive, railway, heavy engineering, precision machining or similar industries
- Hands-on exposure to machined castings/forgings and CMM-based dimensional inspection is strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of PPAP, FAI, Control Plan, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, 7 QC Tools and 8D
- Competence in MS Excel/Word and preparation of customer-ready quality reports Pasted text (2)

Who Should Apply?We are looking for a shop-floor-oriented Quality Engineer, not someone focused only on quality documentation. The ideal candidate should be comfortable moving between a customer drawing, CNC machine, fixture, CMM, quality laboratory and production floor to understand why a dimensional problem has occurred and help eliminate its root cause.
