Position: QC Officer
Department: Quality Control
Reports To: QC Manager
Experience: 2–3 Years
Industry: Agro Products / Food / Feed / Fertilizer
Qualification: B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry, Food Technology, Microbiology, Agriculture, Biotechnology, or related field
Job Purpose To carry out routine quality inspection, sampling, laboratory testing, documentation, and process-quality monitoring of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products, ensuring compliance with approved specifications and quality standards.
The QC Officer will work under the guidance of the QC Manager and support laboratory operations including HPLC, GC, chemical, physical, and microbiological testing, as applicable.
Key Responsibilities1. Raw Material Inspection
- Inspect and sample incoming spices, grains, seeds, fruits & vegetables, feed raw materials, and fertilizer materials.
- Perform sampling according to approved sampling procedures.
- Check physical and chemical quality parameters as per specifications.
- Check moisture, foreign matter, infestation, colour, appearance, purity and other applicable parameters.
- Record inspection results and communicate non-conformities to the QC Manager.
1. Laboratory Testing
- Perform routine chemical and physical analysis of raw materials and finished products.
- Prepare samples, reagents, standards, solutions and test preparations.
- Conduct testing according to approved SOPs and test methods.
- Maintain accurate laboratory worksheets, test reports and records.
- Ensure proper identification and traceability of samples.
1. HPLC & GC Operations
- Operate HPLC and GC under approved procedures and supervision.
- Carry out sample preparation and extraction for chromatographic analysis.
- Prepare standards and calibration solutions.
- Perform system suitability checks and routine instrument checks.
- Review chromatograms and report analytical results to the QC Manager.
- Maintain HPLC/GC logbooks and instrument records.
- Report abnormal instrument performance or analytical results immediately.

- Pesticide residues
- Microbiological parameters
- Other applicable quality parameters
Animal Feed
- Moisture
- Protein
- Fat
- Fibre
- Ash
- Calcium/phosphorus
- Mycotoxins and other applicable parameters
Fertilizers
- Nitrogen
- Phosphorus
- Potassium
- Moisture
- pH
- Sulphur/micronutrients
- Other product-specific parameters
1. In-Process & Production Quality
- Conduct routine quality checks during production.
- Monitor critical process parameters as defined in SOPs.
- Collect in-process samples at specified stages.
- Immediately report deviations to the QC Manager and Production team.
- Ensure production follows approved quality specifications.
1. Finished Product Testing
- Test finished products according to approved specifications.
- Maintain batch-wise testing records.
- Submit results to the QC Manager for review and release.
- Ensure proper retention and storage of samples.
- Identify and report any OOS results immediately.
1. OOS / Non-Conformance
- Inform the QC Manager immediately regarding OOS or abnormal results.
- Support OOS, deviation, complaint and CAPA investigations.
- Perform repeat/retest analysis only as per approved procedures.
- Maintain records of rejected and non-conforming materials.
1. Laboratory Equipment
- Operate laboratory instruments and equipment correctly.
- Perform routine checks and basic troubleshooting.
- Maintain equipment logbooks.
- Ensure equipment is within calibration before use.
- Report calibration or maintenance requirements to the QC Manager.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and laboratory safety.

- Reagent/standard preparation records

- Retention sample records
- Cleaning records
- OOS/deviation records
- COA-related documentation
Ensure all records are complete, accurate, legible and traceable.
1. Quality & Food Safety Systems
- Follow applicable GMP, GHP, HACCP, ISO 22000/FSSC 22000 and company quality procedures.
- Follow laboratory safety and chemical-handling procedures.
- Participate in internal audits and quality inspections.
- Follow SOPs and work instructions at all times.
Key Skills
- Basic-to-good practical knowledge of HPLC and GC

Experience 2–3 years of relevant experience in QC/QA or an analytical laboratory, preferably in:
- Spices
- Grains
- Seeds
- Fruits & vegetables
- Food processing
- Animal feed
- Fertilizer
- Agrochemical/agricultural products
- Testing laboratories
Hands-on experience with HPLC and/or GC will be preferred.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
