Job Title : Member of Technical Staff MTS Automation athenahealth is looking for a Member of Technical Staff – Automation Engineer to join our Collector QA team in Chennai.

In this role, you will build and maintain automation across UI, API, and backend layers using Playwright, TypeScript/JavaScript, REST/GraphQL, and CI/CD. You will also have opportunities to work with AI tools such as Claude and Codex to improve test generation, test data creation, failure analysis, and overall automation productivity.

What You’ll Do

- Develop and maintain automated tests using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Build API automation for REST/GraphQL and backend/service-level testing.
- Automate business-critical workflows across UI, API, and backend systems.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Troubleshoot failed/flaky tests and API contract issues and improve automation stability.
- Use Claude, Codex, and other AI-assisted development tools for test generation,



test data creation, failure triage, and productivity.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, QA, and cross-functional teams.
- Contribute to code reviews and continuously improve automation coverage, performance, and maintainability.

What We’re Looking For

- 2–7 years of experience in test automation, software engineering, backend development, or related application development.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience with REST/GraphQL API automation and backend/service testing.
- Positive understanding of CI/CD, Git/version control, debugging, and software engineering fundamentals.
- Exposure to Claude/Codex, AI agents, or AI-assisted testing/development is preferred.
- Working knowledge of AWS or Azure is an advantage.
- Experience working in Agile and cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/IT or equivalent relevant experience.
