Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Production Manager to lead our manufacturing operations. The candidate will be responsible for planning, supervising, and controlling production activities to ensure timely delivery, consistent quality, optimum productivity, cost control, and compliance with safety and company procedures.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in a precision engineering / fabrication / industrial manufacturing environment, with the ability to manage production teams, coordinate with other departments, resolve shop-floor issues, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Execution

- Plan and execute daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on customer requirements and delivery commitments.
- Ensure production targets are achieved within stipulated timelines.
- Allocate manpower, machines, tools, materials, and other resources effectively.
- Monitor production progress and take corrective action in case of delays or bottlenecks.
- Coordinate with Planning, Purchase, Stores, Quality, Engineering and Dispatch departments.

2. Shop-Floor Management

- Supervise day-to-day manufacturing activities and ensure smooth workflow.
- Manage production supervisors, engineers, operators, technicians and contract manpower.
- Ensure proper utilization of manpower, machinery and production facilities.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks, idle time, rework and other production losses.
- Maintain discipline and adherence to established production processes.

3. Quality & Process Control

- Ensure products are manufactured as per approved drawings, specifications, work instructions and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with the Quality Department for inspection, testing and resolution of quality issues.
- Minimize rejection, rework and process deviations.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions for recurring production-related problems.
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability of production activities.

4. Productivity & Cost Control

- Monitor productivity, machine utilization, labour efficiency and material consumption.
- Identify opportunities for reducing manufacturing costs without compromising quality.
- Implement methods to reduce wastage, rejection,



rework and downtime.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.
- Establish and monitor relevant production KPIs.

5. Manpower Management

- Plan manpower requirements based on production load.
- Allocate work and monitor performance of production personnel.
- Identify training requirements and coordinate skill development.
- Develop a culture of accountability, productivity, discipline and teamwork.

6. Maintenance & Machine Utilization

- Minimize machine downtime and ensure availability of critical equipment.
- Ensure proper use and upkeep of production equipment, tools, fixtures and gauges.

7. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure strict adherence to factory safety procedures and statutory requirements.
- Promote safe working practices and maintain good housekeeping on the shop floor.
- Ensure appropriate PPE and safety practices are followed.
- Participate in safety audits and implementation of corrective actions.

8. Inventory & Material Coordination

- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase to ensure timely availability of raw materials, bought-out items and consumables.
- Monitor material shortages that may affect production schedules.
- Ensure proper control and utilization of materials issued for production.

9. Documentation & MIS

- Ensure timely preparation and maintenance of production records.
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production reports.
- Track production versus plan, rejection, rework, productivity, downtime and pending orders.
- Provide management with regular updates on production status, constraints and corrective actions.

Candidate Profile

Education





- BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering.

Experience

- 1015 years of relevant manufacturing experience, preferably with at least 3–5 years in a Production Manager / Senior Production role.
- Experience in engineering manufacturing, fabrication, pressure equipment, valves or similar industrial products will be preferred.

Technical Skills

- Strong understanding of manufacturing and production processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of fabrication, machining, assembly, testing and inspection processes.
- Familiarity with production planning and scheduling.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and manufacturing documentation.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and MS Excel.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, productivity improvement and root-cause analysis will be an advantage.

Preferred Industry Experience Preference may be given to candidates with experience in:

- Industrial engineering products
- Fabrication and welding
- Machining and assembly
- Engineering products manufactured against customer specifications
- Projects involving inspection by third-party / customer inspection agencies

Additional Expectations The candidate should be hands-on and capable of independently managing the complete production function, rather than being limited to planning or administrative activities. He should be comfortable spending significant time on the shop floor and working directly with supervisors, operators and engineering teams to resolve production issues. Experience in a manufacturing organization supplying products to institutional, defence, marine, EPC or other highly regulated customers will be an added advantage.
