We are looking for a Production Engineer / Supervisor to run our machine shop, which carries out heavy machining of industrial gearbox bodies and housings, industrial and water pump components and plate heat exchanger parts. The shop is equipped with 3 Horizontal Boring Machines, 4 Radial Drilling Machines, VMC / CNC drilling, a Plano Miller and conventional machines.

The role covers job planning, setting supervision, manpower deployment and on-time delivery of machined components to drawing. The candidate must be able to decide machining sequence and work-holding independently for large, heavy and often single-piece components.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and allocate daily machining load across HBM, radial drilling, VMC / CNC drilling, plano miller and conventional

machines as per despatch priority.
- Study fabrication and machining drawings; decide machining sequence, datum selection, clamping, packing and fixture

requirement before releasing the job.
- Supervise HBM setting for gearbox housings bore boring, bore alignment, centre distance, parallelism, squareness of

faces and machining of split lines.
- Control machining allowance on fabricated and stress-relieved jobs; plan the sequence so that distortion after welding

is corrected rather than carried forward.
- Supervise drilling, tapping and counter-bore operations on parts received from the cutting and fabrication sections.
- Approve first piece before bulk machining and ensure operators work strictly to drawing and process sheet.
- Monitor cycle time and machine utilisation; identify and explicit bottlenecks; minimise setting time on repeat jobs.
- Manage tooling, inserts, boring bars and consumables raise indents in time and control consumption.




- Coordinate with the cutting / fabrication sections and with outside job-work vendors for material availability.
- Maintain daily production reports, WIP status and job-wise progress; support incoming, in-process and final inspection

stages with Quality.
- Supervise operators and helpers, handle shift handover, and drive safety, machine maintenance and 5S discipline.

Candidate Requirements

- Diploma or B.E. in Mechanical / Production Engineering.
- 5 to 7 years of hands-on machine shop experience on medium to heavy components.
- Strong working knowledge of Horizontal Boring Machine (HBM) setting, boring, facing and long-bore work along

with radial drilling, VMC / CNC drilling and conventional turning and milling.
- Ability to read engineering drawings independently including GD&T;, tolerance, surface finish, machining and welding

symbols.
- Sound understanding of machining parameters, tool selection, work-holding and fixturing for heavy and single-piece

jobs.
- Candidates who have worked on gearbox housings, pump casings, heat exchanger components, machine-tool

structures or similar heavy engineering jobs will be strongly preferred.
- Experience in a job-shop environment handling varied components rather than mass production will be an added

advantage.
- MS Excel for production reporting; ability to lead a team and work to delivery commitments.
