About Us
Smartivity is India's leading STEM toy brand, founded in 2015 by IIT Delhi engineers. We make screen-free wooden DIY kits for kids aged 3–14. We have 130+ products, 10M+ kits sold, and 163+ patents filed. We design and manufacture everything in-house in Manesar.
The Role
Trends come and go. Great toy brands are built on bets that last. You'll help Smartivity decide where to play over the next 3–5 years: which categories to enter, which product platforms to build, and which shifts in how children learn and play we should get ahead of. Along the way, you'll build Smartivity's product discovery playbook, a repeatable, data-backed way of spotting, testing, and prioritising opportunities that the whole team can use long after any single trend fades.
What You'll Do
- Build the playbook: Create Smartivity's documented system for product discovery: the data sources we trust, the criteria an idea must meet, how we size and score opportunities, and how we learn from every launch. You'll refine it each quarter as our bets play out.
- Track structural shifts: Study the forces reshaping kids' play and learning: screen-time concerns, NEP 2020 and the push for hands-on STEM, changing family income and gifting habits, sustainability, and the growth of new markets.
- Build category theses: Develop evidence-backed views on the categories and age bands Smartivity should own, enter, or avoid over the long term, with sizing, growth outlook, and competitive dynamics.
- Think in platforms: Identify product systems that can grow into families of products over years, rather than one-off SKUs, and that build on our patents and manufacturing strengths.
- Separate signal from noise: Use search, marketplace,
and social data to test whether a trend is a fad or an early sign of lasting change.
- Listen at scale: Analyse reviews, complaints, and our part-replacement and returns data to find unmet needs that persist over time.
- Watch the frontier: Monitor global toy launches, patent filings, and research on child development to see where play is heading.
- Shape the roadmap: Feed a long-term opportunity map and quarterly category deep-dives into the product team's planning.
Tools You'll Use
- Market and category data: Circana (NPD), Euromonitor, Statista, industry and investor reports
- Demand and trend signals: Google Trends, Amazon Brand Analytics, Jungle Scout, Keepa, Exploding Topics
- Competitive and IP landscape: Google Patents, Similarweb, Meta Ad Library
- Analysis: SQL, Google Sheets, LLM tools (Claude, ChatGPT)
- Visualisation: Looker Studio or Power BI
What We're Looking For
- A graduate in engineering, economics, business, or another quantitative field, with 0–3 years in analytics, research, consulting, or a startup.
- Robust Excel/Sheets skills. Python or SQL is a big plus.
- Structured, long-horizon thinking: you can build a thesis, test it with data, and change your mind when the evidence does.
- Product taste and genuine curiosity about how kids learn and play.
- The ability to turn research into a crisp, confident recommendation.
- Experience with any of the tools above is a plus. How you think matters more than what you've used.
Why Join
You'll help decide what a patent-driven, in-house-manufacturing brand becomes over the next five years, and build the playbook it uses to get there.
