Role Overview

Design Boxed is looking for an entry-level Media Monitoring Intern with a background in Journalism, Mass Communication, or Media Studies. The candidate should have a basic understanding of Indian politics and political developments, particularly in Punjab and other states.

The role will primarily involve tracking news and political developments, monitoring media coverage, identifying key narratives, and preparing regular media reports for the management/team.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor newspapers, TV channels, digital news platforms, and social media for relevant political and current-affairs developments.
- Track daily political news, statements, press conferences, events, controversies, and emerging narratives.
- Monitor the media coverage of political parties, leaders, governments, and key political issues.
- Prepare daily and weekly media monitoring reports highlighting important developments and trends.
- Share timely updates and breaking news with the management/team.
- Identify important political narratives, media trends, and opposition/government responses to key issues.
- Track the coverage and prominence of important stories across different media platforms.
- Maintain structured records of relevant news stories, statements, and media coverage.
- Assist the team in preparing media analysis, political trackers, and briefing notes when required.
- Coordinate with the internal team to ensure significant developments are reported accurately and on time.

Desired Skills





- Basic understanding of Indian politics and political developments.
- Awareness of political parties, leaders, major issues, and current affairs in Punjab or other Indian states.
- Good news-reading and information-gathering skills.
- Ability to identify what is important/relevant from a large volume of news.
- Good written communication skills in English; knowledge of Hindi/Punjabi will be an advantage.
- Ability to summarise news and political developments in a clear and concise manner.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel/Google Sheets, PowerPoint, and digital media platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with deadlines.
- Willingness to closely follow news and political developments on a daily basis.

Preferred Candidate

- Students or fresh graduates from Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Political Science, or related fields.
- Candidates who regularly follow newspapers, TV news, digital news platforms, and political developments.
- Prior experience in media monitoring, political research, newsroom work, or content research will be an advantage, but is not mandatory.
