Role: Piping Material Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Piping Material Engineer with strong expertise in piping material selection, specifications, valves and technical evaluation. The role will be responsible for material engineering activities across design, procurement, fabrication and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and review Piping Material Specifications (PMS) and piping class specifications.

- Perform material selection based on process requirements, operating conditions, corrosion environment and project specifications.

- Handle Valve Material Selection (VMS) and review valve/specialty item specifications and datasheets.

- Prepare Material Requisitions (MR) and conduct Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) for piping materials, valves and specialty items.

- Review vendor offers, drawings, technical documents and material certificates for compliance.

- Coordinate with Process, Piping, Mechanical, Procurement, QA/QC and Project teams.

- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication and site execution.

- Support fabrication/manufacturing teams in material verification, compliance,



traceability and QA/QC requirements.

- Resolve material-related technical queries during project execution.

- Ensure compliance with applicable ASME, ASTM, API, MSS and client/project standards.

- Support material take-offs, cost estimation and technical documentation.

- Lead/coordinate material engineering activities and support the team.

Must-Have Skills

- 10+ years of relevant experience in Piping Material Engineering.

- Strong hands-on experience in PMS, VMS, Piping Specialty Items and TBE.

- Valuable understanding of process requirements for material selection.

- Experience in procurement and vendor technical evaluation.

- Experience supporting fabrication/manufacturing and QA/QC activities.

- Team handling/leadership experience.

- Exposure to international EPC projects.

- Strong knowledge of piping materials, valves, specifications and applicable international codes.

Good to Have

- Experience with SmartPlant Materials (SPM).

- Knowledge of SP3D.

- Experience with material databases and material traceability systems.
