Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced New Product Development Engineer to manage new product development activities from initial customer requirements through prototype development, process development, trials, validation, and successful transfer to mass production.

The candidate should have strong hands-on experience in stamping, welding, and machining processes and be capable of coordinating with customers and internal cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Handle new product development projects from customer RFQ / drawing receipt through production launch.
- Study and review customer drawings, specifications, standards, and technical requirements.
- Coordinate with customers for drawing clarifications, technical requirements, and development activities.
- Develop suitable manufacturing processes for recent components.
- Prepare and review process flow, operation sequence, process parameters, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Coordinate development of dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and tooling.
- Support prototype and sample development and coordinate trials.
- Conduct process trials for stamping, welding, and machining components.
- Coordinate with Tool Room, Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Purchase teams during product development.
- Monitor development timelines and ensure on-time completion of NPD milestones.
- Identify potential manufacturing issues during the development stage and implement corrective actions.




- Support process capability studies and dimensional validation.
- Coordinate preparation of PPAP documentation and submission to customers.
- Support APQP activities and maintain relevant NPD documentation.
- Conduct and support DFM / manufacturability reviews.
- Analyze development-related rejections and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Coordinate prototype and pre-production builds.
- Ensure successful process handover from development to mass production.
- Maintain project status, development reports, trial records, and customer communication.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and cycle-time optimization.

Process Experience Required

Stamping

- Experience in sheet-metal stamping processes.
- Knowledge of press machines, dies, material specifications, and stamping defects.
- Experience in die trials and process development.

Welding

- Experience in welding process development and trials.
- Knowledge of MIG / TIG / spot welding processes.
- Understanding of welding parameters, fixtures, and common welding defects.
- Robotic welding experience will be an advantage.

Machining

- Experience in CNC turning / machining and grinding processes.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, tooling, cycle time, and machining parameters.




- Ability to develop and optimize machining processes.

Required Skills
- Good knowledge of automotive component development.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T;.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow, and MSA.
- Knowledge of 7 QC tools and problem-solving techniques.
- Good understanding of DFM / manufacturability.
- Strong project coordination and communication skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office / Excel.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD / SolidWorks or other CAD software will be an advantage.

Qualification & Experience
- ITI / Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical, Production, Automobile, or related discipline.
- 5–6 years of relevant experience in New Product Development / Product Development / Process Development.
- Experience in automotive component manufacturing preferred.
- Hands-on experience in stamping, welding, and machining is required.
- Experience in customer coordination and PPAP / APQP activities will be an added advantage.
