Role & responsibilities

Need to Understand Ping, Traceroute, Packet flow and diagnose and resolve complex Layer 2 network issues such as VLAN misconfigurations, spanning tree problems, and port errors.

Investigate and resolve connectivity issues, including but not limited to network loop detection, broadcast storms, and link failures.

Assist in configuring and managing network switches, routers, and firewalls (Layer 2).

Manage VLAN setups, port configurations, trunking, and other related network activities.

Implement and maintain network segmentation strategies based on requirements.

Monitor network performance to identify bottlenecks, degraded service, or downtime.

Collaborate with network architects to ensure network scalability and high availability.

Act as a point of escalation for lower-level (L1) support teams, providing solutions for complex issues.

Document and track incidents in the ticketing system and ensure they are resolved within SLA timeframes.

Assist in regular network equipment maintenance, firmware upgrades, and hardware replacement.

Advanced Troubleshooting:



Expert in diagnosing complex Layer 2 issues, including VLAN misconfigurations, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) loops, and broadcast storms using tools like Ping, Traceroute, and Packet Analysis.

Infrastructure Management: Proficient in configuring and managing high-availability (HA) network environments, including Layer 2/3 switches, routers, and firewalls with a focus on secure trunking and port optimization.

Performance Optimization: Skilled in proactive monitoring to eliminate bottlenecks, ensuring network scalability and maximum uptime through strategic hardware maintenance and firmware lifecycle management.

Network Security & Segmentation: Experienced in implementing robust network segmentation and VLAN strategies to enhance security posture and streamline organizational traffic flow.

Incident Leadership: Proven ability to act as a senior escalation point for L1 teams, managing end-to-end incident resolution within strict SLA timeframes and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation.
