Job Scope

Day-to-day operate, monitor, and troubleshoot the DC LAN switching, basic routing, and physical layer. This is a hands-on-keyboard, ticket-driven role, not a design role.

Baseline / Minimum Skills

- VLAN concepts and configuration (trunk vs access, 802.1Q)

- Spanning Tree (STP/RSTP/MST) purpose and basic troubleshooting

- Port-channel / LACP (link aggregation) configuration and verification

- Comfortable on Cisco NX-OS and IOS CLI — show/debug commands, interface & VLAN troubleshooting

- Basic static routing and ability to read (not necessarily design) an OSPF/BGP config

- TCP/IP fundamentals — subnetting, ARP, DNS, DHCP

- Physical layer — structured cabling, transceivers (SFP/SFP+/QSFP), basic fiber troubleshooting (light levels)





- Can read topology diagrams and follow MOPs (Method of Procedure) for change execution

Core Responsibilities

- 24x7 monitoring of network infrastructure and first-response troubleshooting

- Execute planned changes (MOPs) under L3/NOC guidance

- Raise and track tickets with vendors (Cisco TAC etc.) for hardware faults

- Basic packet capture collection for L3 to analyze

- Rack/port-level physical troubleshooting and cable management

- Shift handover documentation and incident logging
