Job Title: Junior to Mid-Level AS/400 (IBM i) Developer

Position Overview We are looking for an ambitious and hands-on AS/400 (IBM i) Application Developer to join our core engineering team. In this role, you will maintain, enhance, and modernize critical business-logic applications. This position is ideal for a junior-to-mid-level programmer who understands core legacy architectures but is eager to work with modern development practices like Free-Form RPG and embedded SQL.

Key Responsibilities

- Code Development: Write, modify, and debug application programs utilizing RPGLE , SQLRPGLE , and CL/CLLE .




- UI & Screen Design: Design and maintain interactive user interfaces by building and updating Display Files and Subfiles using SDA.
- Database Management: Create and alter database structures using Physical Files (PF) and Logical Files (LF) via DDS or DDL.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose application defects, investigate batch job failures, and perform line-by-line debugging using STRDBG .
- Code Deployment: Work with change management tools to safely promote code through Development, QA, and Production environments.

Mandatory Technical Skills

- 8 months to 3 years of verified, hands-on experience coding on the IBM i (AS/400) platform.
- Strong proficiency in RPGLE and SQLRPGLE (Embedded SQL).
- Practical experience designing and handling Subfiles and Display Files .
- Concrete understanding of IBM i database concepts ( Physical Files and Logical Files ).
- Familiarity with CL (Control Language) for job handling and program execution.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

- Experience writing or converting legacy code into Free-Form RPG .
- Familiarity with modern IDEs like RDi (Rational Developer for i) or VS Code (Code for IBM i).
- Exposure to Change Management systems such as Aldon , TurnOver , or MKS Implementer .
- Experience exposing or consuming REST APIs / Web Services on IBM i.
