Job Title: Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)

Work Location: Remote

Work Timings: UK Shift

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)

with 2-5 years of hands-on experience in administering, monitoring, optimizing, and troubleshooting SQL Server databases in staging and production environments. The candidate should have strong expertise in database performance tuning, backup and recovery, security, high availability, and AWS RDS for SQL Server. He/she should be capable of independently managing staging and production environments, optimizing database performance, and supporting business-critical database systems to ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability.

- Key Responsibilities o Install, configure, administer, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases. o Manage SQL Server instances hosted on-premises and AWS RDS.

o Configure and manage database backups, restores, disaster recovery,

and maintenance plans.

o Monitor database health, performance, and availability using SQL Server monitoring tools.

o Identify and resolve database bottlenecks at both the infrastructure and application/query levels.

o Perform query optimization, execution plan analysis, and performance tuning.

- o Design, implement, and maintain database objects, including:

Tables

Views

Stored Procedures

Functions

Triggers

Indexes

Constraints o Configure and manage SQL Server Agent Jobs.

o Configure and troubleshoot Linked Servers.

o Manage TempDB configuration and optimize its performance.

o Monitor blocking, deadlocks, waits,



and resource utilization.

o Perform index analysis, maintenance, fragmentation management, and statistics updates.

o Troubleshoot database issues using:

Extended Events

SQL Profiler

Activity Monitor

Query Store

Dynamic Management Views (DMVs)

- Support database deployments, schema changes, and release activities. o Ensure database security by managing users, roles, permissions,

auditing, compliance and encryption where applicable.

o Production Incident Handling, Root cause analysis (RCA), performance troubleshooting and proactive monitoring.

o Work closely with development teams to improve database performance and application scalability.

Prepare and maintain database documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks.

- Performance Tuning o Query optimization o Execution Plan analysis o Index tuning o Statistics management o Wait Statistics Analysis: Understanding waits such as `PAGEIOLATCH`, `CXPACKET`, `CXSYNC_PORT`, `ASYNC_NETWORK_IO`, etc o Blocking and deadlock troubleshooting o CPU, Memory, and I/O performance analysis o Monitoring & Troubleshooting
