Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Draughtsman / Sheet Metal Design Engineer to support the design, development and manufacturing of waste-management and industrial machinery.

The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, sheet-metal fabrication, machinery assemblies and New Product Development (NPD), along with the ability to work closely with fabrication, production, vendors and site teams.

Key Responsibilities

Develop accurate 2D & 3D mechanical designs and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

Design sheet-metal components, frames, enclosures, hoppers, chutes, brackets, panels, guards and machine assemblies.

Prepare flat patterns, bend details, cutting drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and BOMs.

Apply appropriate material specifications, sheet thickness, tolerances, bend allowances, welding details and fabrication standards.

Design and detail rotary drums, shafts, supports, frames and other mechanical assemblies used in industrial machinery.

Assist in the selection, sizing and assembly of gearboxes, motors, bearings, couplings, mechanical seals, rubber seals, SS shafts and other mechanical components.

Understand basic power transmission, torque, RPM, shaft sizing, bearing selection and gearbox-motor matching.

Work closely with fabrication, production and assembly teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective and production-ready.

Support New Product Development (NPD)



from concept and prototype through fabrication, testing and final production.

Modify and improve existing machine designs based on production, service and site feedback.

Prepare and maintain BOMs, part lists, fabrication documentation, assembly drawings and controlled drawing revisions.

Coordinate with vendors for laser cutting, CNC bending, machining, welding, fabrication and bought-out components.

Conduct site visits and provide technical/site supervision during installation, assembly, commissioning and troubleshooting when required.

Identify design and fabrication issues and provide practical engineering solutions.

Ensure that drawings and documentation are clear and suitable for shop-floor manufacturing and assembly.

Required Skills & Technical Knowledge

Strong hands-on experience in SolidWorks & AutoCAD.

Valuable understanding of sheet-metal design and fabrication processes.

Practical knowledge of laser cutting, CNC bending, welding, machining and mechanical assembly.

Ability to prepare and interpret engineering, fabrication and assembly drawings.

Understanding of BOM, GD&T;, tolerances, material selection and manufacturing processes.





Exposure to gearboxes, motors, bearings, couplings, shafts, mechanical/rubber seals and power-transmission components.

Understanding of SS shafts, rotary drums, rotating assemblies and associated support structures will be an advantage.

Ability to select and integrate standard mechanical components into machine assemblies.

Good practical understanding of machinery design and shop-floor manufacturing.

Ability to troubleshoot design and fabrication issues and implement design improvements.

Good coordination and communication skills with production, fabrication, purchase, vendors and site teams.

Willingness to travel to customer/vendor sites whenever required.

NPD & Documentation The candidate will be expected to contribute to the complete product-development cycle:

Concept → 3D Design → 2D Manufacturing Drawings → BOM → Prototype → Fabrication → Assembly → Testing → Design Improvements → Final Production Release

Strong attention to drawing accuracy, revision control, documentation and manufacturing feasibility is essential.

Preferred Candidate

Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with 2–6 years of practical experience in machinery design, sheet-metal fabrication, mechanical assemblies and NPD.

Candidates who have worked directly with fabrication shops, machine assembly and production teams and have strong hands-on engineering knowledge are strongly preferred.

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
