We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with 2+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and product development.

The role will primarily focus on mechanical design, machine design, product development, prototyping, and engineering documentation, with the opportunity to work on advanced metal additive manufacturing systems and applications.

The ideal candidate should have strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering, excellent 3D CAD skills, and the ability to take a design from concept through development, manufacturing, assembly, and testing.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & Product Development

- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, fixtures, and machine structures.
- Develop 3D CAD models, detailed manufacturing drawings, assemblies, and BOMs.
- Translate concepts and requirements into practical mechanical designs.
- Perform design calculations, tolerance analysis, fits, and basic engineering validation.
- Apply DFM/DFA principles to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective to manufacture.
- Design mechanisms, enclosures, brackets, mounts, fixtures, and machine subsystems.
- Review and improve existing designs for performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost.
- Create prototypes and work closely with manufacturing teams to validate designs.
- Troubleshoot design and assembly issues and implement engineering improvements.

Machine Design & Manufacturing

- Work on mechanical architecture and subsystem design for industrial machinery.
- Coordinate with fabrication, machining, sheet-metal, and assembly vendors.
- Select appropriate materials, fasteners,



bearings, linear motion components, and other mechanical elements.
- Support machine assembly, testing, commissioning, and design validation.
- Participate in design reviews and maintain engineering documentation and revision control.

Metal Additive Manufacturing

- Apply mechanical design principles specifically to metal 3D printed components and machine parts.
- Understand design considerations related to additive manufacturing, including build orientation, support structures, wall thickness, overhangs, and manufacturability.
- Explore opportunities to redesign conventional components using additive manufacturing.
- Work with the R&D; and application teams to develop and optimise parts for metal AM.
- Gain exposure to technologies such as LPBF and DED and their applications.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design / product development / machine design.
- Solid proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Fusion 360, or equivalent.

- Manufacturing processes




- Experience developing designs that have gone through manufacturing and physical assembly.
- Ability to read, understand, and create detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good understanding of machining, fabrication, sheet metal, welding, and assembly processes.

Good to Have
- Experience in industrial machine design or equipment design.
- Experience with metal additive manufacturing or 3D printing.
- Knowledge of LPBF / DED.
- Experience with FEA or simulation tools.
- Exposure to CNC machining, sheet-metal fabrication, or precision manufacturing.
- Experience with prototyping and product testing.
- Familiarity with engineering change management and BOM/revision control.
