Location: Manufacturing Plant

1. Job Purpose To lead and manage the complete Engineering & Maintenance function of the pharmaceutical manufacturing plant, ensuring maximum equipment uptime, reliable utilities, preventive maintenance, GMP compliance, safety and cost-effective engineering operations.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Maintenance Management

- Plan, supervise and control all maintenance activities of the plant.
- Ensure smooth and uninterrupted operation of production and utility equipment.
- Manage preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance.
- Monitor machine downtime and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure timely resolution of critical equipment breakdowns.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for repeated and major breakdowns.

B. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

- Prepare annual/monthly preventive maintenance plans.
- Ensure 100% timely completion of preventive maintenance activities.
- Review equipment history and identify recurring failures.
- Develop predictive maintenance practices for critical equipment.
- Maintain equipment history cards and maintenance records.

C. Plant Utilities

Responsible for maintenance and operation of utilities such as:

- HVAC and AHU systems
- Chillers and cooling towers
- Air compressors
- Boilers and steam systems
- RO/DM/Purified Water systems
- DG sets and electrical systems
- Pumps and motors
- Nitrogen and other process utilities, as applicable

D. Pharmaceutical Equipment

- Ensure maintenance of manufacturing and packing equipment.
- Coordinate with Production for planned maintenance activities.
- Support installation, commissioning and qualification of current equipment.
- Ensure equipment operates within defined specifications.
- Review equipment performance and recommend upgrades/modifications.

E. GMP & Documentation

- Ensure compliance with GMP/cGMP, Good Engineering Practices and company SOPs.
- Ensure proper maintenance of logbooks, equipment history cards and PM records.




- Review engineering SOPs, checklists and maintenance formats.
- Participate in deviation, CAPA, change control and investigation activities.
- Ensure engineering documentation is audit-ready.
- Coordinate with QA during internal, customer and regulatory audits.

F. Team Management

- Lead and supervise engineers, technicians and maintenance staff.
- Allocate daily maintenance activities and manpower.
- Conduct training on equipment, safety, GMP and maintenance procedures.
- Monitor team performance and productivity.
- Develop technical skills of engineering personnel.

G. Spare Parts & Cost Control

- Identify and maintain adequate stock of critical engineering spares.
- Review spare-part requirements and annual budgets.
- Control maintenance expenses without compromising equipment reliability.
- Coordinate with Purchase for procurement of engineering materials and services.
- Evaluate vendors and service providers.

H. Vendor & AMC Management

- Manage AMC/CMC contracts for critical equipment and utilities.
- Coordinate with equipment manufacturers and external service agencies.
- Monitor contractor performance and quality of work.
- Verify service reports and maintenance completion.

I. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with EHS and electrical/mechanical safety requirements.
- Implement LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and permit-to-work systems.
- Ensure safe working practices during maintenance activities.
- Investigate maintenance-related incidents and implement corrective actions.

J. Projects & New Installations

- Participate in plant expansion and engineering projects.
- Review equipment specifications and technical requirements.
- Support equipment installation, commissioning and qualification.
- Coordinate with contractors,



consultants, vendors and QA.
- Ensure projects are completed within approved timelines and budgets.

3. Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering.
- Diploma with strong relevant pharmaceutical maintenance experience may also be considered.
- Knowledge of GMP/cGMP, HVAC, utilities and pharmaceutical equipment is preferred.

4. Experience

8–15 years of relevant experience in Engineering/Maintenance, preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant, with minimum 3–5 years in a managerial/supervisory role.

8. Authority & Accountability The Maintenance Manager is accountable for the overall reliability, safety, availability and maintenance of plant equipment, utilities and facilities, while ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical GMP and company requirements.

Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
