Mongas is a UK-based retail group with stores in London, specialising in Indian ethnic fashion. We have our base operations in Delhi and are looking for an experienced Khaka Maker to join our India team and bring our embroidery and print designs to life with precision and craftsmanship.

About the Role

We need a skilled khaka artist who can turn design ideas into accurate, ready-to-use perforated stencils

(khakas) for embroidery, block printing, and hand-painted work on fabric. This role needs a sharp eye for detail,

a steady hand, and a real understanding of how designs sit on ethnic garments.

Key Responsibilities

- Draw detailed motifs and patterns on paper from design references, sketches, or briefs
- Trace final designs onto butter paper with clean, accurate outlines
- Perforate designs using a needle or pinning tool to create neat, evenly spaced khaka stencils
- Scale and adjust designs to fit specific garment panels such as necklines, sleeves, borders, blouses, kurta

yokes, lehenga kalis, and dupatta pallus
- Create repeat patterns and layouts for borders, buttis, and all-over designs
- Transfer (chaap) designs onto fabric using the pouncing method with neel or chalk paste, and check for

accuracy before work begins
- Coordinate with embroidery karigars, printers, and the design team to make sure designs are executed





correctly
- Label, organise, and maintain a library of khakas for future reuse and reference
- Make corrections and revisions quickly when design changes are requested

Requirements

- 3–4 years of hands-on experience as a khaka maker in the garment, embroidery, or ethnic fashion industry
- Robust freehand drawing and tracing skills
- Good understanding of Indian embroidery styles (zardozi, aari, dabka, resham, sequin, cutdana, etc.) and

how khakas are prepared for each
- Knowledge of ethnic garment types and how designs are placed on them
- Excellent precision, neatness, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and meet timelines
- Knowledge of CorelDRAW or other design software is a plus
- Candidates should bring samples or photos of their previous khaka work to the interview
