Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and manage day-to-day operations of the Hardlines testing laboratory.
- Allocate testing activities and workloads among laboratory technicians/engineers.
- Review test requests, samples, specifications, test methods, and applicable standards before testing.
- Ensure testing is carried out as per applicable ASTM, ISO, EN, IEC, BIS, and customer/buyer-specific standards.
- Monitor testing activities for products such as:

- Toys

- Furniture

- Juvenile products

- Household products

- General merchandise

- Other consumer/hardline products
- Review test results, raw data, worksheets, and test reports for technical accuracy.
- Ensure testing equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and available for use.
- Monitor laboratory environmental conditions and ensure compliance with laboratory procedures.
- Support ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory requirements and maintain compliance with quality procedures.
- Identify testing deviations, non-conformities, and technical issues and coordinate corrective actions.
- Train, guide, and technically support laboratory technicians and engineers.
- Conduct competency assessments and provide technical guidance to team members.
- Ensure proper sample handling, identification, storage, and disposal.
- Coordinate with clients, project teams, technical reviewers, and other internal departments regarding testing requirements and timelines.
- Monitor turnaround time (TAT) and ensure reports are completed within agreed timelines.




- Support internal/external audits and provide required technical documentation.
- Assist in developing and validating new test methods and expanding laboratory testing capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety requirements and company policies.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory performance and operational reports.

Required Technical Skills

- Good knowledge of Hardlines product testing and applicable international standards.
- Hands-on experience with testing of toys, furniture, consumer products, juvenile products, or general merchandise.
- Knowledge of ASTM / ISO / EN / IEC / BIS standards.
- Good understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
- Experience in test report review and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality and safety procedures.
- Good MS Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.

Education Bachelors/Masters degree/ Diploma- in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

- 2+ years of relevant experience in a testing laboratory, preferably within TIC (Testing, Inspection & Certification) organizations.
- Prior experience in a supervisory/team-lead role is preferred.
