Head Corporate Assurance, Governance & Finance
Location: Kolkata, West Bengal
Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Head Corporate Assurance, Governance & Finance to lead the organization's governance, compliance, financial oversight, risk management, audit, and funding governance functions.
The role will be responsible for ensuring strong institutional governance, regulatory compliance, financial accountability, fund utilization transparency, risk mitigation, and policy implementation across the organization. The incumbent will work closely with senior leadership to strengthen governance frameworks, financial controls, donor compliance, and organizational sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Corporate Governance & Compliance
- Lead organization-wide governance and compliance initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to statutory, regulatory, legal, and governance requirements.
- Manage registrations, licenses, statutory filings, renewals, and regulatory reporting.
- Coordinate with legal advisors, auditors, regulatory agencies, and governing bodies.
- Monitor compliance risks and implement corrective actions.
1. Policy Development & Institutional Controls
- Develop, review, and implement organizational policies, SOPs, governance frameworks, and control mechanisms.
- Ensure policies remain aligned with regulatory requirements and best governance practices.
- Drive policy awareness and accountability across departments.
- Establish governance standards and monitoring systems.
1. Financial Governance & Oversight
- Provide strategic oversight of organizational finances and financial governance.
- Review financial statements, balance sheets, fund utilization reports, and management accounts.
- Monitor budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and resource allocation.
- Strengthen financial controls and accountability mechanisms.
- Ensure proper utilization and reporting of grants, donations, and institutional funding.
1. Fund Governance & Donor Compliance
- Oversee governance and compliance requirements related to grants, CSR funds, philanthropic funding, and institutional funding.
- Ensure transparent fund management and utilization.
- Monitor donor reporting requirements and compliance commitments.
- Develop systems for funding governance, documentation, and audit readiness.
1. Enterprise Risk Management
- Design and implement an enterprise-wide risk management framework.
- Identify operational, financial, legal, compliance, and reputational risks.
- Establish mitigation plans and risk monitoring mechanisms.
- Promote a strong risk-aware culture across the organization.
1. Internal Audit & Assurance
- Lead internal audit programs across financial, operational, governance, and compliance functions.
- Evaluate effectiveness of internal controls.
- Review audit findings and ensure timely closure of observations.
- Maintain readiness for statutory, donor, and regulatory audits.
1. Leadership & Strategic Advisory
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on governance, compliance, finance, and risk matters.
- Develop dashboards and governance reports for leadership review.
- Support organizational growth through robust governance and financial stewardship.
- Drive cross-functional accountability and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Company Secretary (CS) (Mandatory)
- Additional qualifications in Risk Management, Corporate Governance, Finance, or Audit will be an advantage.
Experience
- 10-15 years of progressive experience in:

Mandatory Skills & Competencies Governance & Compliance
- Strong knowledge of governance frameworks, statutory compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in policy formulation and implementation.
- Expertise in institutional governance and compliance monitoring.
