CAB Experiences

Bangalore Urban

Company: Gether Technologies

CAB Experiences is an experiential event marketing agency. We design and run live events for brands: launches, conferences, roadshows, activations and private client experiences. We are rebuilding the company so that AI is part of how every department works. We call this being AI-native: each team’s daily work runs on systems that use AI models, and staff are trained to work with those systems.

The reason is competitive. Clients are starting to expect faster proposals, lower production overhead and better reporting. This role leads the rebuild: placing AI-native builders inside each department to create, retrain and rewire the systems it depends on. Internally we call those systems the department’s “brain”: the documents, data, workflows and judgement calls that define how it works.

Title: Head of AI Engineering (Head AI Engineer and AI-Native Builder)

Type: Full-time, senior leadership. Reports to the CTO and the CEO.

You will be CAB’s first senior AI hire, accountable for turning the company AI-native. You will build systems yourself, hire a small team of AI-native builders, embed them in each department, and decide what to build, what to buy and how each department’s work is rewired around it. Expect roughly half your time building and half leading. We are not hiring a strategist who delegates all the building.

Responsibilities

Build the department systems

- Map how each department works today: inputs, outputs, decisions and tools.
- Build AI-powered systems for each department, for example a proposal generator for sales, a brief-to-concept assistant for creative, a budgeting and vendor-sourcing assistant for production, and automated post-event reporting for client servicing.

- Set up the shared foundations: a company data layer, model access, evaluation and monitoring, security and access controls. Decide between building, buying and integrating.

Retrain and rewire how departments work

- Redesign each department’s workflow so the system sits inside the daily process, and train staff to use, correct and improve it without your team present.
- Measure the effect (hours saved per event, proposal turnaround, cost accuracy, client satisfaction) and report to the CTO and CEO monthly.

Hire and lead the AI-native builder team

- Hire and lead a team of AI-native builders, planned at 3 to 5 people in the first year. These are engineers who ship working software with AI tools quickly and are comfortable inside a non-technical department.
- Embed each builder in a department, rotate them once it can run its own systems, and set the team’s standards for code review, testing against real work and handling failures.

Own AI direction for the company

- Keep the CTO, CEO and department heads informed on what AI tools can and cannot yet do reliably.
- Own the AI budget and the rules for data handling and client confidentiality.

Required experience and skills

- 6+ years building production software, including 2+ years on top of large language models (AI models that read and write text).
- Has shipped at least one AI system people depend on for their work, and can explain what broke and what changed.

- Hands-on experience with agent frameworks (software that lets an AI model take a sequence of actions in other tools), with at least one agent run in production.
- Hands-on experience with workflow automation tools such as Zapier, Make or n8n, and the judgement to know when custom code is needed instead.
- Full-stack ability: backend services, data pipelines, integrations with business tools, simple internal interfaces. Knows how to make AI systems reliable: connecting models to company data, evaluations against real examples, error handling, cost monitoring.
- Experience in a services business organised around projects, clients and vendors (events, marketing, hospitality, media or similar).
- Has hired and led engineers. Can sit with a non-technical colleague, understand their job and turn it into a system they will use; this is tested in the interview.
- Writes clearly and is willing to work on site with departments.

Nice to have

- Experience as a first or early technical hire in a company that was not previously a technology company.
- Experience running training or workshops for non-technical staff.

Who this role is not for
- Someone who wants to research AI models rather than apply existing ones to business work.
- Someone who expects a mature engineering setup, a clean data set, or to review code rather than write it.
- Someone uncomfortable with a services business, where client deadlines set the pace and a live event cannot wait for a software fix.

Reporting line, team and location Reports to: CTO and CEO.

Team: 3 to 5 AI-native builders, hired by you; there is no existing engineering team.

Location: Bangalore, with in office time in each department during embed periods.
