Role & responsibilities :

The GM / AVP Accounts is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, managing financial risks, strategic planning, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role demands extensive experience in corporate finance, accounting, investments, and managing a large-scale manufacturing operation in the iron & steel sector. He will be a key advisor to the executive team, contributing to the company's financial strategy and long-term growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Financial Planning:

Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the companys business goals.

Drive long-term financial planning and performance management.

Assess and forecast the company’s capital needs, and work with banks, financial institutions, and investors to secure necessary financing.

Evaluate mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, or divestitures for strategic alignment with business objectives.

1. Financial Management & Reporting:

Oversee the preparation of financial reports, balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other financial documents. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the board of directors, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.

Manage the annual budgeting process, including variance analysis and performance tracking.

Monitor key financial indicators and provide data-driven insights to the CEO and other senior executives.

Lead the cost optimization initiatives to reduce production costs and improve profitability.

1. Operational Excellence:

Supervise financial operations, including cash management, liquidity management, treasury, and taxation. Monitor working capital, and ensure effective inventory management to minimize costs while maintaining operational needs.

Implement efficient financial controls and accounting procedures to prevent fraud, wastage, or mismanagement of resources.

Provide financial leadership in operational decisions related to procurement, capital expenditure, and supply chain efficiency.

1. Risk Management & Compliance:

Identify and mitigate financial risks, including commodity price fluctuations,



currency risks, and interest rate exposures. Ensure the company’s compliance with corporate governance standards, financial regulations (e.g., SEBI, Companies Act), and industry-specific laws.

Implement internal audit systems and ensure regular reviews of financial practices.

Lead efforts to comply with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) regulations.

1. Investor Relations:

Maintain relationships with banks, financial institutions, and investors to ensure the company has access to necessary funding. Prepare investor presentations, quarterly earnings calls, and other communications related to company performance.

Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including equity investors, debt providers, and credit rating agencies.

1. Team Leadership:

Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Provide direction on recruitment, training, and development of the finance function.

Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments like production, procurement, and marketing to achieve organizational goals.

Qualifications

Education

Chartered Accountant (CA), Cost Accountant (CMA), or MBA in Finance from a reputed institution.

Additional certifications such as CFA or ACCA would be advantageous.

Experience

Minimum 18+ years of experience in finance, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in the iron & steel or heavy manufacturing sector.

Proven track record in managing complex financial operations in large-scale, multi-location manufacturing companies.

Experience in managing large capital expenditure projects and liaising with financial institutions for project financing, Specially exposure in NSE / BSE listed company

Financial Acumen: Strong knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, accounting standards, and financial forecasting.

Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large finance teams.

Strategic Thinking: Capable of making high-level financial decisions aligned with the company’s business strategy.

Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of industry-specific financial regulations, taxation, and corporate governance related to NSE & BSE listed is must.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-finance executives.

Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to negotiate with financial institutions, investors, and suppliers.

Technology Proficiency: Expertise in financial management software (ERP systems, SAP, etc.) and advanced knowledge of data analysis tools.

Financial Performance: Revenue growth, cost control, margin improvement, return on investment (ROI).

Operational Efficiency: Reduction in working capital days, cash conversion cycle, and inventory turnover ratio.

Compliance: Timeliness and accuracy of financial reports, audit compliance, and adherence to statutory norms.

Risk Management: Effectiveness in mitigating financial risks (currency, interest rate, commodity price fluctuations).

Leadership: Development and retention of a high-performing finance team.
