Job Title: Fire Protection Design Engineer

The Fire Protection Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, planning, and coordination of fire protection systems for various types of buildings (commercial, industrial, residential, and institutional). The role involves preparing detailed designs, performing hydraulic calculations, and ensuring compliance with applicable fire safety codes and standards.

Qualifications

- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical / Fire & Safety / Electrical Engineering.
- 3–7 years of experience in fire protection system design (preferably in MEP consulting or contracting firms).
- Familiarity with Autodesk BIM tools is an added advantage.
- Certification in NFPA / Fire Fighting Design is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop fire protection systems including sprinkler systems, hydrant networks, fire pumps, hose reel systems, clean agent systems, and other fire suppression systems.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and layouts using AutoCAD / Revit.
- Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler and hydrant systems using tools such as Elite Fire, HASS, or PipeNet.
- Ensure all designs comply with NFPA, NBC, IS, and local authority standards.
- Prepare BOQ (Bill of Quantities), material specifications, and technical data sheets.
- Review architectural, structural,



and MEP drawings to ensure proper coordination.
- Conduct design reviews, resolve clashes, and coordinate with other disciplines (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing).
- Provide technical support to site teams during installation and commissioning.
- Attend client meetings and coordinate with consultants and contractors for approvals.
- Participate in value engineering and ensure cost-effective design solutions.
- Update as-built drawings and assist in preparing handover documentation.

Required Skills and Competencies

- Strong knowledge of NFPA, NBC, and IS codes related to fire protection systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), and Hydraulic Calculation Software (Elite Fire, HASS, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret construction and MEP drawings.
- Good understanding of BIM coordination and model-based design.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
