Job Purpose

Responsible for ensuring the protected, reliable, and uninterrupted operation of electrical systems, utilities, laboratory equipment, and facility infrastructure across the R&D;/CRO facility. The role will manage preventive and breakdown maintenance, electrical safety, utility operations, AMC vendors, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance

- Maintain HT/LT electrical systems, transformers, DG set, UPS systems, electrical panels, MCCs, PCCs, and distribution systems.
- Monitor electrical load, power consumption, voltage, current, and power factor.
- Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain lighting, emergency lighting, earthing, and electrical distribution systems.
- Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory and facility electrical systems.

Utility & Facility Maintenance

- Maintain DG, UPS, HVAC, AHU, chillers, compressors, pumps, and other utilities.
- Coordinate maintenance of laboratory support systems such as exhaust systems, fume hoods, scrubbers, and other facility equipment.
- Monitor critical utilities and ensure uninterrupted operation.
- Coordinate with external agencies for specialized maintenance.

Preventive Maintenance

- Prepare and implement preventive maintenance schedules and follow the SOPs
- Maintain equipment history cards and maintenance records.
- Ensure timely completion of PM activities.
- Identify recurring failures and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain adequate spare parts and critical electrical components.

R&D; / CRO Environment

- Understand the criticality of uninterrupted utilities for analytical, process chemistry, and laboratory operations.




- Ensure maintenance activities do not adversely affect laboratory operations or ongoing experiments.
- Coordinate with QA, EHS, R&D;, Analytical, Production, and Administration departments.
- Follow change-control, deviation, incident-reporting, and documentation procedures where applicable.

Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with electrical safety requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical panels, cables, earthing, and safety devices.
- Ensure proper LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) practices.
- Conduct electrical safety checks and maintain records.
- Support fire and emergency preparedness activities.
- Ensure contractors follow site safety requirements.
- Participate in internal and external audits and close maintenance-related observations.

Vendor & AMC Management

- Manage AMC/service providers for DG, UPS, HVAC, elevators, electrical systems, compressors, chillers, etc.
- Obtain quotations and coordinate service activities.
- Monitor vendor performance and service quality.
- Verify service reports and invoices.
- Maintain AMC and equipment-related documentation.

Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain maintenance logs, breakdown reports, PM records, calibration/service records, and equipment history.
- Prepare monthly maintenance reports.
- Maintain records required for audits and inspections as per ISO and Clint.

Educational Qualification

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
- Electrical license/supervisor certification will be an advantage, depending on statutory requirements.
- Additional knowledge of facility/utility maintenance is preferred.

Experience: 7 - 12+ years Experience in any of the following industries is preferred:

- CRO / CDMO
- Pharmaceutical
- API / Chemical
- R&D; laboratories
