The Commercial team sits at the heart of Officeworks' growth agenda. This function brings together customer needs, product innovation, services, supplier partnerships, merchandise planning, and channel growth to shape what Officeworks sells, how it competes, and the value it delivers across Retail, B2B, Government, and Education. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the business's most commercially impactful areas.

The team plays a key role in evolving Officeworks' product and service offering, accelerating growth in high-potential channels (such as B2B and Education), expanding private label and exclusive ranges, strengthening supplier partnerships, and unlocking emerging category opportunities across areas like technology, gaming, mobility, VR, print, installation, telco, and managed services.

You will help build commercial capability from the ground up, shaping scalable ways of working, strengthening planning and decision-making, and driving outcomes that impact sales, margin, customer experience, inventory performance, and long-term growth.

Why this role exists:

The EDI Associate manages the technical operation, testing,



and maintenance of electronic data interchange (EDI) connections between Officeworks, external suppliers, and internal systems. The role ensures purchase orders, order acknowledgements, advance shipping notices, and electronic documents flow accurately and seamlessly to support supply chain visibility and inventory availability.

By proactively monitoring daily transaction streams and rapidly diagnosing system failures, the role prevents operational disruptions across ordering, receiving, and payment processes. It plays a key technical role in onboarding suppliers and maintaining integration standards, supporting broader business initiatives and enhancing operational efficiency across store and digital fulfillment networks.

Where you will make a difference:

EDI Technical Operations and Integration:

- Manage the day-to-day operation and technical support of EDI connections between suppliers, internal systems, and external platform providers.
- Monitor daily transmission logs to ensure business-critical B2B transactions are processed accurately and within required timeframes.
- Maintain supplier connection configurations, transaction mappings, and system routing logic to support reliable data exchange.
- Verify that processed transactions flow successfully through SAP and downstream planning platforms without data corruption

Supplier Onboarding and Integration Testing:
- Lead technical onboarding activities for recent suppliers, confirming connection specifications and mapping requirements.
- Configure EDI profiles and set up transaction validation rules prior to operational deployment.
- Coordinate end-to-end transaction testing with suppliers, validating data integrity across purchase orders, ASNs, and invoice files.
- Test supplier connection updates and platform system upgrades before production release to prevent operational disruptions

Incident Management and Exception Resolution:
- Investigate failed, delayed, duplicate, or rejected B2B transactions across integration platforms and connected applications.
- Diagnose technical root causes for interface errors across IBM Sterling, SAP ERP, and core supply chain modules.
- Coordinate technical support with external EDI platform providers, internal infrastructure teams, and supplier IT contacts to resolve issues.
- Ensure resolved transaction exceptions are reprocessed accurately to protect inventory availability and receiving timelines

System Governance and Technical Documentation:
- Maintain detailed technical documentation including supplier configurations, interface specifications, test logs, and support procedures.
- Provide clear and timely updates on technical incidents, integration risks, and onboarding progress to key stakeholders.
- Provide technical advice and data evidence to support supplier compliance assessments and corrective action workflows.
- Audit interface transaction parameters regularly to ensure alignment with internal IT controls and data governance standards

Continuous Improvement and Process Optimization:
- Analyze recurring transaction failures and system errors to identify root causes and operational vulnerabilities.
- Recommend enhancements to monitoring routines, automated alerts, and validation rules to improve message delivery reliability.




- Collaborate with integration engineers to streamline supplier onboarding protocols and reduce technical setup lead times.
- Evaluate emerging integration standards and platform features to support ongoing supply chain digitization initiatives

Who you will be working with:
- External Partners: Interface directly with supplier IT teams, customer service contacts, and third-party EDI platform providers to configure connections and resolve transmission failures.
- Planning Leadership: Partner with the International Logistics and EDI Manager, Replenishment Manager, and planning specialists to communicate technical risks and order processing status.
- Technology Teams: Collaborate with SAP support specialists, integration engineers, and IT infrastructure teams to address platform bugs, routing errors, and system upgrades.
- Operational Business Partners: Work alongside Procurement, Category Management, Distribution Centers, receiving teams, and Accounts Payable to ensure electronic data accurately supports commercial, inventory, and financial processes.

What success looks like:
- Onboarding Efficiency: New supplier EDI connections are configured, rigorously tested, and transitioned into production without operational delays or data quality defects.
- Incident Resolution Pace: Technical integration failures and transmission exceptions are identified, investigated, and remediated rapidly to protect inventory availability and receiving timelines.
- System Reliability and Governance: Comprehensive technical documentation, mapping specifications, and system diagnostics are maintained to reduce recurring transmission errors.

Qualifications and work experience:

Essential

- 4+ years of experience in EDI technical support, B2B integration, or application support within retail or supply chain environments
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent practical industry experience
- Integration Protocols: Strong working knowledge of standard EDI transaction formats, mapping rules, and structured B2B data exchange protocols.
- System Expertise: Hands-on experience working with enterprise EDI platforms (such as IBM Sterling) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (such as SAP).
- Troubleshooting Capability: Demonstrated experience investigating and resolving failed, rejected, or delayed transaction files across complex integration architectures.
- Testing and Validation: Proven track record conducting end-to-end integration testing, supplier onboarding validation, and system upgrade verification.
- Technical Governance: Proven capability to maintain clear technical documentation, mapping specifications, and operational support procedures.

Preferred:
- Prior technical integration experience within high-SKU omni-channel retail or consumer goods environments
- Familiarity with GS1 logistics standards, serial shipping container codes (SSCC), and retail logistics barcode compliance
- Exposure to data visualization tools such as Power BI or SQL for transaction logging and exception reporting.
