About the Role

We are hiring for People Operations & Talent to build and lead the People function for a new Bangalore business unit, establishing the organization's presence, workforce, culture, and people infrastructure in India as the business grows.

This leader will develop the people strategy and operating foundation for the Bangalore launch, including workforce planning, talent acquisition, organizational design, policies, employee experience, and HR operations. The role will transition into on-site leadership as the office opens, serving as a visible executive presence and building and leading an on-site HR team.

The director will partner closely with U.S.-based executives, the global People team, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Technology functions to support a multidisciplinary workforce spanning software engineering, infrastructure, QA, data engineering, analytics, and shared services.

The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of the Indian talent market and employment environment, experience supporting a U.S.-based technology organization, and a strong track record of building and scaling People functions in high-growth environments. Experience in healthcare technology or another regulated, data-intensive industry is strongly preferred.

What You Will Own :

- People Strategy & Business Leadership

- Develop and execute the India People strategy, aligning local priorities with global business objectives and serving as a strategic advisor to U.S. executives and India business leaders.
- Lead workforce planning, organizational design, talent strategy, culture, employee relations, and people-related business decisions.
- Establish the People operating framework for the Bangalore business unit, ensuring scalable processes and infrastructure from launch through growth.
- Act as a visible executive and culture carrier, translating global priorities into effective local practices.
- Build trusted relationships across India and U.S. teams, ensuring the India organization operates as an integrated part of the global business.

- Talent Acquisition & Workforce Growth

- Build and lead a scalable talent acquisition strategy for Bangalore, from initial setup through sustained workforce growth.
- Partner with functional leaders to develop workforce plans, hiring roadmaps, and talent strategies across engineering, infrastructure, QA, data, analytics, and shared services.
- Establish effective sourcing, selection, and employer-branding strategies to attract high-quality technical and business talent in the competitive Bangalore market.
- Build and lead a high-performing Talent Acquisition function, including hiring and developing the People Operations team.
- Develop recruiting partnerships, university relationships, and talent pipelines to support current and future workforce requirements.
- Establish data-driven recruiting practices and metrics, including time to fill, quality of hire, offer acceptance, cost of hiring, and retention.
- Collaborate with business leaders to forecast talent requirements and proactively address workforce capacity and hiring risks.

Employee Engagement & Organizational Effectiveness

- Establish and reinforce the organization's culture, values, and employee experience across the Bangalore workforce.
- Develop initiatives that connect the India team with the organization's mission, global leadership, and international teams.
- Design and implement employee engagement and retention strategies based on workforce data and employee feedback.
- Establish listening mechanisms, including employee surveys, focus groups, and leadership forums, to identify concerns and improvement opportunities.
- Partner with business leaders on organizational structure, onboarding, performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, and internal mobility.
- Analyze engagement, attrition, and workforce trends to provide actionable insights to leadership on organizational health, capacity, and retention risks.

- People Operations, HR Governance & Compliance

- Build and establish the People Operations infrastructure required to support the India business from launch through scale.
- Develop an India employee handbook, HR policies, and operating procedures aligned with global standards and applicable Indian employment requirements.
- Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure appropriate governance across hiring, employee records, compensation, performance management, leave, benefits, and separation.
- Serve as the senior escalation point for complex employee matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and well-documented processes for employee concerns and investigations.
- Identify and proactively manage workforce risks, partnering with internal stakeholders and external advisors where required.
- Oversee coordination with external service providers supporting payroll, benefits administration, background verification, and other HR services.
- Ensure HR operations and employee lifecycle processes are scalable, compliant, and aligned with business requirements.

- People Team Leadership & Cross-Border Collaboration

- Build, lead, and develop an India People team of approximately 3–5 employees across Talent Acquisition, People Operations, HR Business Partnership, and Employee Experience.
- Establish clear roles, goals, performance expectations, and accountability across the People function.
- Coach and develop team members, building a solid pipeline of People leadership capability as the organization scales.
- Maintain close and consistent alignment with the U.S.-based People Operations and global HR teams.
- Establish effective communication and collaboration practices across time zones, ensuring consistency in policies, employee experience, and people processes.
- Scale the People organization in line with business growth, workforce requirements, and evolving organizational needs.





Required Qualifications & Experience

- 12 years of progressive experience in HR, People Operations, Talent Acquisition, or People leadership, including experience building or scaling a People function, business unit, capability center, or technology organization in India.
- Proven experience partnering with a U.S.-headquartered technology organization and supporting senior leaders across India and the United States.
- Strong understanding of the Bangalore technology talent market, including software engineering, infrastructure, QA, data engineering, analytics, and shared services.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing high-volume and specialized talent acquisition strategies in competitive talent markets.
- Experience establishing scalable HR policies, employee handbooks, governance frameworks, and People Operations processes for an India-based workforce.
- Strong working knowledge of Indian employment practices, HR compliance, and applicable labor regulations, with the judgment to engage legal counsel when required.
- Proven experience building organizational culture, improving employee engagement, and developing retention strategies during periods of rapid growth or organizational change.
- Demonstrated experience hiring, leading, and developing HR or People teams.
- Strong executive presence, with the ability to influence and advise senior leaders across cultures, functions, and geographies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use workforce data and people metrics to support business decisions.
- Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.
- Willingness to work remotely during the launch phase and transition to on-site leadership in Bangalore once the office is operational.
- Ability to maintain effective working-hour overlap with U.S.-based teams.

Strongly Preferred

- Experience in healthcare technology, healthcare intelligence, health insurance technology, payment integrity, or another regulated and data-intensive industry.
- Proven U.S.–India cross-border experience, including working within a U.S.-parented organization, managing U.S.–India reporting relationships, or serving in a global People leadership role.
- Experience supporting private-equity-backed, high-growth, or acquisitive organizations.
- Experience launching or scaling a current India business unit, Global Capability Center (GCC), or technology operation from the ground up.
- Familiarity with HR technology implementations, including Workday or comparable global HRIS platforms.
- Experience supporting teams that handle sensitive healthcare, financial, or other regulated data.
- Experience designing total rewards, career development, succession planning, and retention programs for highly sought-after technical talent.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Psychology, or a related field. An advanced degree or relevant HR certification is preferred.
- High ownership, adaptability, and energy, with the ability to grow into a broader India leadership remit as the organization scales.
