Position: Deputy General Manager (DGM) – Engineering

Position Summary The Deputy General Manager - Engineering is responsible for leading product engineering, design, localization, value engineering, new product development (NPD), and manufacturing engineering initiatives. The role drives engineering excellence, innovation, quality, cost optimization, and compliance while collaborating with global engineering teams, manufacturing, supply chain, sourcing, quality, and commercial functions.

The incumbent will support business growth by developing engineering strategies, improving product performance, driving localization projects, and ensuring successful execution of engineering programs aligned with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership

- Lead and manage engineering teams across design, manufacturing engineering, product development, and project engineering.
- Build high-performing engineering capabilities through mentoring, coaching, and succession planning.
- Establish engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
- Drive a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Product Design & Development

- Oversee development and enhancement of Terex products and systems.
- Lead Recent Product Development (NPD), product upgrades, and engineering change management.
- Ensure products meet customer requirements, performance expectations, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with global engineering centers on product platforms and technology deployment.

Localization & Value Engineering

- Drive localization initiatives to improve supply chain resilience and reduce costs.
- Identify value engineering opportunities without compromising quality, safety, or performance.
- Work with sourcing and suppliers to optimize component design and manufacturing processes.
- Support strategic cost reduction programs.

Manufacturing Engineering

- Improve manufacturing processes, tooling, layouts, and productivity.
- Support implementation of lean manufacturing and industrial engineering principles.
- Drive automation and digital engineering initiatives where applicable.




- Ensure manufacturability of products during design stages.

Project Management

- Manage multiple engineering projects from concept to production launch.
- Develop project plans, budgets, resource requirements, and timelines.
- Monitor project progress, risks, and deliverables.
- Ensure successful and timely implementation of engineering initiatives.

Quality & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and internal quality requirements.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Support quality improvement and reliability initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to ISO, EHS, and corporate engineering standards.

Stakeholder Management

- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, quality, sales, and service teams.
- Partner with global engineering teams for technology transfer and product support.
- Interface with customers and suppliers for technical discussions and issue resolution.
- Present engineering performance updates to senior leadership.

Continuous Improvement

- Drive Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Monitor engineering KPIs and implement corrective actions.
- Promote digital engineering tools, simulation, and advanced technologies.

Educational Qualification

Essential:





- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Industrial Engineering.

Preferred:

- Master's Degree in Engineering or MBA.
- Certifications in Project Management, Lean Six Sigma, or Product Development.

Experience

- 15-20 years of experience in engineering within manufacturing, heavy equipment, construction equipment, industrial machinery, or automotive sectors.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing engineering teams.
- Experience in product design, manufacturing engineering, localization, and project execution.
- Exposure to multinational manufacturing environments preferred.
- Experience working with global engineering teams is highly desirable.
