Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Design Lead to lead our design function across the complete journey from Enquiry Design Proposal Order Confirmation Production Inputs. The role will be responsible for ensuring technical accuracy, design standardisation, faster turnaround times, seamless production handovers, and effective utilisation of design resources, with a solid focus on P&L; accountability and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in IMOS design, along with experience managing design teams and working closely with Sales, Commercial, and Production teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design Lifecycle Management

Lead design execution across the complete lifecycle from enquiry to production release.

Translate customer requirements into accurate and production-ready designs.

Ensure 100% accuracy in technical handovers, including BOMs, drawings, specifications, dimensions, and production inputs.

Review and approve designs before proposal submission and production release.

IMOS Design

Lead and execute IMOS-based designing, planning, and technical documentation.

Develop accurate layouts, configurations, and production-ready designs based on customer requirements.

Utilise IMOS capabilities for parametric design, standardisation, customisation, revisions, and optimisation.

Maintain and improve reusable design modules, components, and libraries.

Ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, cost-effective, and aligned with production requirements.

Process Standardisation

Develop and implement design standards, SOPs, templates, checklists, and modular design libraries.

Standardise repetitive design workflows to improve productivity and minimise errors.

Identify recurring design issues and implement corrective and preventive measures.





Drive continuous improvement in design processes and documentation.

TAT & Productivity Optimization

Establish and monitor design TAT/SLA guidelines for enquiries, proposals, revisions, and production releases.

Use parametric tools, standard modules, and process improvements to reduce turnaround time.

Monitor team productivity and identify bottlenecks affecting proposal and production timelines.

Ensure timely closure of design deliverables without compromising accuracy.

Proposal & Commercial Support

Work closely with the Sales and Commercial teams to convert enquiries into technically feasible and commercially viable proposals.

Provide accurate design, quantity, specification, and BOM inputs for costing and quotations.

Support value engineering and design-to-cost initiatives.

Ensure design decisions are aligned with project profitability and customer requirements.

Order-to-Production Handover

Ensure a smooth and error-free transition from confirmed order to production.

Provide complete and accurate BOMs, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

Coordinate with Production to resolve design-related queries and modifications.

Minimise rework, production errors, material wastage, and delays resulting from design inaccuracies.

Team Leadership

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Designers/CAD Engineers/IMOS Designers.

Define and monitor KPIs related to accuracy, TAT, productivity, standardisation, and rework.





Conduct regular design reviews and provide technical guidance to the team.

Build a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.

P&L; & Cost Optimization

Ensure design decisions support project profitability and overall P&L; objectives.

Drive material optimisation, reduction of wastage, and efficient utilisation of resources.

Identify opportunities for cost reduction through standardisation, modularisation, and design optimisation.

Balance customer requirements with manufacturability, cost, timelines, and commercial objectives.

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong hands-on experience in IMOS Design

Experience in modular furniture / interior / furniture manufacturing design

Strong knowledge of BOMs, technical drawings, specifications, and production documentation

Experience with AutoCAD and other CAD/design tools

Strong understanding of design-to-production workflows

Experience in team management and design leadership

Process standardisation and SOP development

Strong understanding of TAT/SLA management

Cost optimisation and design-to-cost approach

Strong coordination with Sales, Commercial, Production, and Operations teams

Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills

Preferred Candidate Profile

5-10 years of relevant experience in design, preferably within modular furniture, interiors, furniture manufacturing, or a related industry.

Strong hands-on expertise in IMOS is preferred.

Experience managing a team of designers/CAD engineers.

Proven experience in taking designs from enquiry through proposal and order confirmation to production.

Strong commercial understanding with the ability to balance design quality, TAT, cost, and profitability.
