Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer with strong expertise in SPM machine design, fixture design, robotic automation, and palletizing applications . The candidate will be responsible for developing complete mechanical concepts and detailed designs for industrial automation projects, from customer requirements through manufacturing, assembly, trials, FAT, and installation support.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and development of Special Purpose Machines (SPM) and industrial automation systems.
- Design of jigs, fixtures, welding fixtures, assembly fixtures, inspection fixtures, and material handling systems .
- Mechanical design of robot-based palletizing and depalletizing systems .
- Design and application engineering for robotic systems including:
- Pick & Place
- Palletizing / Depalletizing
- Machine Tending
- Material Handling
- Welding
- Painting / Process Automation
- Assembly and Inspection Automation
- Develop robot cell concepts including robot selection, reach study, EOAT/gripper design, safety fencing, conveyors, positioners, and peripheral equipment .
- Prepare 2D layouts, 3D concepts, detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and BOMs .
- Design machine structures, frames, guarding, brackets, sheet-metal parts, and fabricated components.
- Perform engineering calculations for payload, structural loading, motors, gearboxes, pneumatic cylinders, linear systems, bearings, and other mechanical components .
- Select suitable mechanical and automation components based on application requirements.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure designs meet customer specifications, safety requirements, manufacturability, and serviceability.
- Coordinate with Electrical, Controls, Robotics, Production,



Procurement, Project Management, and Quality teams .
- Support manufacturing, assembly, machine trials, FAT, installation, commissioning, and design modifications.
- Coordinate with customers and suppliers for technical clarifications and design approvals.
- Maintain proper engineering documentation, revision control, BOMs, drawings, and design records.

Required Technical Skills

Mandatory:

- Solid hands-on experience with SolidWorks
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD
- SPM machine design
- Fixture and jig design
- Robotic automation cell design
- Robot palletizing application design
- EOAT / gripper design
- Conveyor and material handling system design
- Pneumatic system/component selection
- Mechanical component selection
- GD&T; and engineering drawings
- BOM preparation and drawing release
- Manufacturing processes, machining, fabrication, and sheet-metal knowledge

Preferred Experience Candidates with practical experience working with industrial robots such as FANUC, Kawasaki, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa, Universal Robots, or similar platforms will be preferred.

Experience in complete project execution from Concept → Design → Manufacturing → Assembly → FAT → Installation → SAT will be an advantage.

Candidate Profile

- Experience: 8–10 years in industrial automation/SPM mechanical design
- Strong problem-solving and application engineering skills
- Ability to independently develop automation concepts from customer requirements
- Capable of handling multiple automation projects simultaneously
- Good understanding of design standards, machine safety, and industrial practices
- Strong communication skills for interaction with customers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams
