Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Data Scientist role based at Dr.

Mahalingam

College of Engineering and Technology in Pollachi.

The Data

Scientist will work with academic and administrative teams to collect, clean, and analyze institutional and research data to support data-driven decision-making. Daily activities include building and validating statistical and machine learning models, performing exploratory data analysis, and developing visual dashboards and reports for stakeholders. The role involves collaborating with faculty and researchers on data-centric projects, supporting student learning through data-guided insights, and documenting methodologies and findings in a clear, reproducible manner.

Scientist is expected to stay current with emerging tools and techniques, contribute to continuous improvement of data practices, and uphold ethical standards in data usage and privacy.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong skills in Data Science and Data Analytics for modeling, prediction, and decision support.
- Candidates should possess solid knowledge of Statistics and Data Analysis to design experiments, interpret results, and derive insights.
- Candidates should possess proficiency in Data Visualization to create clear, actionable dashboards and reports.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, ggplot, matplotlib) is beneficial.
- Experience with databases and query languages (e.g., SQL) and familiarity with data pipelines or ETL processes is advantageous.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences are required.
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field is preferred.
- Prior experience in academic, research, or educational data environments is an added advantage, along with a commitment to ethical and inclusive data practices.
