Key Responsibilities

- Develop and optimize cosmetic formulations from concept to final prototype.
- Work on anti-ageing, skin brightening/pigmentation care, acne/blemish care and hair/scalp care products.
- Develop products such as serums, creams, lotions, gels, face washes, shampoos, conditioners and hair serums.
- Select and evaluate cosmetic raw materials, functional ingredients and active ingredients.
- Evaluate ingredient compatibility, recommended usage levels, pH and processing requirements.
- Optimize product texture, viscosity, appearance, spreadability, sensory properties and overall product performance.
- Troubleshoot formulation issues such as separation, precipitation, viscosity changes, colour/odour changes and active incompatibility.
- Develop and optimize suitable preservation systems.
- Plan and monitor laboratory-scale stability studies.
- Support packaging compatibility and product stability evaluation.
- Conduct technical evaluation of cosmetic ingredients and supplier technical documents.
- Support preliminary assessment of cosmetic regulations and product claims.
- Coordinate with external laboratories for microbiological, stability, safety and efficacy testing when required.
- Prepare formulation sheets, trial reports, product specifications,



process documents and other technical documentation.
- Support pilot trials, scale-up and technology transfer to contract manufacturers.
- Work closely with clients, sourcing/procurement, quality, regulatory consultants, suppliers and manufacturing partners.
- Conduct technical literature and ingredient research to support new product development.

Key Technical Expertise Required

- Strong practical knowledge of cosmetic formulation and product development.
- Good understanding of emulsions, gels, surfactants, rheology modifiers, humectants, emollients and preservatives.
- Good knowledge of cosmetic active ingredients used in:
- Anti-ageing
- Skin brightening/even skin tone
- Pigmentation care
- Acne/blemish care
- Hair growth/hair fall and scalp care
- Understanding of active stability, compatibility, solubility and incorporation into cosmetic formulations.
- Knowledge of cosmetic microbiology, preservation and stability testing.
- Basic understanding of cosmetic regulations, claims and claims substantiation.
- Ability to troubleshoot formulations and independently plan development trials.
- Understanding of laboratory-to-pilot/commercial scale-up.

Qualification & Experience

- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or a related field.
- 3–6 years of relevant hands-on experience in cosmetic formulation/product development.
- Industry experience in skincare, haircare, personal care or active-based cosmetic formulation is preferred.
- Experience working with cosmetic ingredient suppliers and contract manufacturers will be an advantage.
