Consultant – Insights Data & Reporting

Experience: 6–8 Years

Location: Fully Remote

Work Mode: Remote

Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM IST

Function: Insights Data & Reporting

This is a dual-skill role requiring ownership of both the Azure Data Engineering pipeline that feeds Insights reporting and the Power BI reporting layer on top.

The candidate should be able to trace a number from source → warehouse → report and identify and fix issues at the correct layer.

Part A – Data Engineering

- Build and manage ADF pipelines including Lookup, Copy, parameters, scheduled triggers, and failure handling.
- Extract data from Oracle, DB2/iSeries, MySQL, and SQL Server using incremental loading patterns.
- Land data into ADLS as Parquet and load into Azure Synapse using stored procedures, staging, and MERGE/upsert patterns.
- Implement dimensional loads following the correct sequence: Incremental → Staging → Dimensions → Facts, while maintaining correct data grain.
- Handle downstream Snowflake loads, such as Snowpipe, where applicable.
- Work with Databricks/PySpark when required.
- Strong hands-on SQL/T-SQL skills, including:
- Window functions
- CTEs
- Stored procedures
- Performance tuning
- Perform data reconciliation using counts, keys, and totals.
- Implement idempotent re-runs and late-data replay mechanisms.
- Handle schema drift and new columns end-to-end.
- Manage CI/CD using Git across Dev → QA → Beta/Test → Prod for ADF and Synapse scripts.
- Perform post-deployment validation.

Part B – Power BI Strong hands-on experience across the complete Power BI Developer skill set, including:





- Semantic modelling
- DAX
- Row-Level Security (RLS)
- Import / DirectQuery / Dual / Direct Lake
- Incremental refresh
- Paginated (.rdl) reports
- Tablix, page breaks, and parameters
- Model or SQL binding
- Power BI capacity
- Fabric / Power BI deployment pipelines
- Environment rules and Git integration
- Model and report performance optimization
- Production issue triage across:
- Source
- Data model
- Report
- RLS
- Refresh

Must Have
- 6–8 years of experience across both Data Engineering and Power BI, with production ownership in both areas.
- Robust experience with ADF + Azure Synapse / SQL Server warehouse environments.
- Hands-on experience with ADLS / Parquet landing patterns.
- Strong knowledge of dimensional modelling, reconciliation, and idempotent data loads.
- Strong Power BI skills including modelling, DAX, RLS, and paginated reports.
- Experience with CI/CD and environment promotion for both data engineering and BI artifacts.
- Strong production troubleshooting and issue-resolution capabilities.
