About the Role
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Commis Chef – Pastry to join the team at a new premium café and French pâtisserie in Ludhiana.
The café is being founded by Ridhi Dang, a French pâtisserie chef and graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Paris, with professional experience in Paris, including the Prince de Galles.
The concept combines French pâtisserie, specialty coffee and a contemporary café food programme, with a strong emphasis on quality, consistency, presentation and professional kitchen practices.
This is an excellent opportunity for a pastry professional with 1–2 years of relevant experience who wants to further develop their technical skills and gain hands-on experience in a professional French pâtisserie environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Commis Chef in the pastry kitchen, you will work closely with the pastry team and assist with the preparation and production of a range of French and contemporary pastry products.
Your responsibilities will include
- Assisting with the preparation and production of pastries, desserts and bakery products.
- Preparing basic pastry components such as creams, mousses, ganaches, custards, fillings, fruit preparations and sauces.
- Assisting with products such as croissants, viennoiseries, tarts, cookies, cakes, entremets, choux pastries and other French pâtisserie items.
- Accurate weighing and measurement of ingredients according to recipes and production sheets.
- Following recipes, preparation methods and production schedules accurately.
- Assisting senior pastry chefs with mise en place and daily production.
- Supporting finishing, glazing, decorating and plating of pastry products.
- Maintaining consistency in portioning, appearance, texture and quality.
- Proper handling, storage and labelling of ingredients and finished products.
- Following FIFO and appropriate food storage practices.
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of workstations, equipment and utensils.
- Cleaning and maintaining pastry equipment after use.
- Following food safety, hygiene and workplace safety standards.
- Assisting with daily kitchen opening and closing procedures.
- Minimising wastage and using ingredients efficiently.
- Supporting the pastry team during high-volume production periods.
- Maintaining an organised and disciplined workstation at all times.
Candidate Profile We are looking for someone with 1–2 years of professional pastry or bakery experience who is genuinely interested in developing a career in French pâtisserie.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of professional experience in a pastry kitchen, bakery, café, hotel or similar food production environment.
- Passion for pastry, baking and food.
- Good understanding of basic pastry techniques.
- Willingness to learn and follow professional French pâtisserie techniques.
- Good understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately weigh and measure ingredients.
- Ability to work efficiently in a professional kitchen environment.
- Good discipline, punctuality and work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays when required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Physically fit enough to stand and work for extended periods.
Preferred Experience Previous experience or training in French pâtisserie will be highly preferred.

Candidates who have completed a recognised pastry, bakery, culinary or hospitality programme will also be preferred.
