Role Overview

Provide build-and-run cloud platform engineering and SRE capability across the Core Banking Vault ecosystem, owning both the delivery of platform changes and the operational reliability of the services once live.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, automate and operate secure, resilient and supportable cloud platform capabilities across GCP, Kubernetes/GKE, service networking, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, observability, security controls and operational tooling.
- Support product and engineering teams through the full lifecycle, from design and implementation through to change delivery, production readiness, incident response, problem management and continuous service improvement.
- Embed SRE practices into the platform by improving automation, reducing manual toil, strengthening monitoring and alerting, improving recovery patterns and driving reliability across business-critical services.
- Work across engineering, product, SRE, supplier and neighbouring platform teams to ensure cloud platform services are scalable, observable, recoverable, secure and aligned to enterprise standards.

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience as a Cloud Platform Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer in cloud-native environments.
- Hands-on experience building and running production cloud platforms, preferably on GCP, including infrastructure, networking, identity, security, operational tooling and service reliability.
- Strong working knowledge of Kubernetes platforms, preferably GKE, including deployment patterns, ingress, service networking, scaling, platform upgrades,



troubleshooting and operational support.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform, and CI/CD tooling to automate platform build, deployment, configuration and operational processes.
- Experience owning services through build and run, including change delivery, production readiness, incident management, problem management, monitoring, alerting, capacity, resilience and continual improvement.
- Strong understanding of SRE principles including automation, toil reduction, SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, operational readiness, reliability dashboards and evidence-based service improvement.
- Solid troubleshooting skills across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, networking, security, integration services, applications and platform services.
- Experience with observability tooling such as Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry or equivalent.
- Good working knowledge of platform integration and data services such as Kafka, PostgreSQL, AlloyDB or equivalent cloud-native technologies.
- Experience working with service mesh technologies such as Istio and cloud-native service-to-service communication patterns.

Preferred Skills
- Banking or core banking platform experience.
- Experience working with Thought Machine Vault.
- Experience supporting large-scale distributed systems and business-critical regulated platforms.
- Experience with GCP platform operations, cost awareness, FinOps practices or cloud consumption optimisation.
- Experience with Kafka, Confluent Platform, AlloyDB, PostgreSQL, Istio, Dynatrace or OpenTelemetry.
- Experience working with strategic technology suppliers and managed service providers.
- Understanding of operational resilience, security, risk and compliance expectations within a regulated environment.
- Experience coaching engineering teams on cloud platform standards, SRE ways of working and production readiness.
