About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Chartering Manager to join our Mumbai team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in dry bulk chartering, vessel fixtures, freight negotiations, and developing relationships with shipowners, charterers, cargo interests, and brokers.

The role involves managing the end-to-end chartering process while identifying new business opportunities and supporting the company's commercial growth.

Key Responsibilities

- Handle dry bulk chartering activities including vessel and cargo requirements.
- Negotiate freight rates, charter party terms, and commercial conditions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with shipowners, charterers, cargo owners, brokers, and traders .




- Identify and develop new chartering opportunities and business leads.
- Monitor freight markets, vessel positions, cargo flows, and market movements.
- Coordinate vessel fixtures and ensure smooth execution of chartering transactions.
- Work closely with operations, documentation, and commercial teams.
- Maintain accurate records of fixtures, negotiations, and market intelligence.
- Provide regular updates on market conditions and commercial opportunities.
- Support management in developing chartering strategies and expanding the company's market presence.

Qualifications & Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in chartering, preferably in dry bulk shipping .
- Strong understanding of vessel chartering, freight markets, and commercial negotiations.
- Existing industry network with shipowners, charterers, cargo interests, or brokers will be an advantage.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to independently handle chartering discussions and commercial negotiations.
- Good analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events when required.
- Bachelor's degree in Shipping, Maritime Studies, Business, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Software & Tools
- Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Familiarity with ShipNext is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with other shipping databases, vessel-tracking platforms, freight-market tools, or chartering platforms will be beneficial.
- Good working knowledge of email and digital communication tools.
