Job Purpose The Deputy Manager - Business Development (Non-Container) is responsible for driving business growth, market share expansion, and customer acquisition for non-containerized cargo segments (including Dry Bulk, Break-Bulk, Liquid Cargo, and Project Cargo) across APSEZ ports This role focuses on developing strategic customer relationships, executing business development initiatives, identifying recent cargo opportunities, and supporting commercial negotiations
Key Responsibilities & User Job Responsibilities
1. Market Intelligence & Lead Generation
- Conduct market research to identify potential customers, industrial clusters, and cargo movement trends for dry bulk and break-bulk commodities
- Map competitive landscapes, port tariffs, and supply chain routes to pitch tailored logistics solutions
- Generate business leads and build a robust pipeline of cargo acquisition opportunities
1. Client Relationship & Key Account Management
- Maintain and expand relationships with industrial clients,
trade intermediaries, custom brokers, and exporters/importers
- Coordinate closely with client supply chain teams to understand their requirements and pitch APSEZs port and logistics value proposition
- Address customer service queries and operational issues to ensure high client satisfaction
1. Commercial Evaluation & Tariff Management
- Prepare techno-commercial proposals, pricing bids, and draft service contracts under the guidance of senior leadership
- Conduct feasibility studies for handling specialized or project cargoes.
- Work with the pricing and billing teams to ensure competitive and profitable commercial structures
1. Port Site Operations & Coordination
- Collaborate with Site Port Operations teams to ensure seamless execution of planned vessel and yard activities for non-container cargo
Experience & Qualifications
- Education: MBA / PGDM in Marketing, International Business, Port/Logistics Management, or a related field. A Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Civil/Marine) is highly valued
- Experience: 3 to 6 years of progressive experience in business development, corporate sales, or key account management within ports, shipping lines, freight forwarding, or bulk logistics industries
