Position: Boiler Operator

Department: Utilities / Engineering

Experience: 1 year + preferred; FRESHERS with an appropriate degree and GOOD ACADEMICS are welcome

Qualification: ITI / Diploma / equivalent technical qualification preferred

Boiler Certification: Valid Second Class / Lower Scale Boiler

Attendant/Operator Certificate will be considered

Reporting To: Utility In-charge / Engineering Manager / Plant Head

Salary Range: 10,000 25,000 per month (CTC), negotiable based on experience and certification

1. Job Purpose To safely and efficiently operate, monitor, and maintain the boiler and associated utility equipment to ensure uninterrupted steam supply to the production plant while maintaining safety, statutory, quality, and environmental requirements.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Operate the boiler safely as per SOPs, operating parameters, and statutory requirements.
- Monitor boiler pressure, temperature, water level, steam generation, fuel consumption, and other operating parameters.
- Operate and monitor feed water pumps, boiler feed system, fuel system, blowdown system, deaerator, water softener/DM plant, and associated equipment as applicable.
- Carry out routine inspection of the boiler, pipelines, valves, pumps, gauges, safety devices, and other utility equipment.
- Maintain proper boiler water level and ensure adequate feed-water supply.
- Perform regular blowdown as per operating requirements and water-quality parameters.
- Record boiler operating parameters in the logbook/shift report at specified intervals.
- Identify abnormal conditions such as low water level, high pressure, leakage,



flame failure, or unusual noise/vibration and take immediate corrective action as per SOP.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure proper start-up and shutdown of the boiler according to approved procedures.
- Maintain valuable housekeeping in the boiler house and utility area.
- Follow all plant EHS, permit-to-work, LOTO, and emergency procedures.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions and equipment abnormalities to the Utility In-charge/Supervisor.
- Support statutory inspection and documentation related to boiler operation.

3. Required Skills

- Basic knowledge of boiler operation and steam generation.
- Knowledge of boiler safety and emergency shutdown procedures.
- Ability to read and record pressure, temperature, level, and other operating parameters.
- Basic understanding of pumps, valves, steam traps, pipelines, and utility equipment.
- Good safety awareness and discipline.
- Ability to work independently during shifts.
- Basic documentation and logbook-maintenance skills.

4. Experience & Eligibility

- Minimum 1 year of hands-on boiler operating experience.
- Experience in chemical/pharmaceutical/manufacturing plants will be preferred.
- Valid Second Class / Lower Scale Boiler Certificate will be considered.
- Candidates must meet all applicable statutory requirements for operating the specific boiler installed at the plant.

5. Shift Requirement

- Willingness to work in General,rotational shifts, including night shifts, Sundays, and holidays as required.
- Ability to respond to boiler/utility emergencies during the assigned shift.
