Backend Developer (Node.js) Experience: 2+ Years

Role Overview We are looking for a skilled and ambitious Backend Developer with 2+ years of professional experience to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be hands-on in designing and building scalable backend services, APIs, and data-driven applications.

You will work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other engineers to build reliable, high-performance systems that power our core products. We also actively leverage AI-assisted development workflows to improve engineering productivity, code quality, debugging, testing, and delivery speed.

Key Responsibilities

- Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js and Express.js.
- API Development & Integration: Build secure, reliable APIs and integrate third-party APIs and external services into existing systems.
- Database Development: Design efficient database schemas, data models, queries, and indexes using PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Performance & Scalability: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize backend services and database queries, and contribute to building highly available and scalable systems.
- Production Support: Debug and troubleshoot production issues, analyze root causes, and implement reliable long-term solutions.
- AI-Assisted Development: Effectively use modern AI coding tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and similar tools for code generation, refactoring, debugging, testing, documentation, and improving development workflows.
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, secure,



and well-tested code following established engineering best practices.
- Code Reviews: Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to maintaining high engineering standards across the codebase.
- Collaboration: Work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to design and deliver features end-to-end.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with modern backend technologies, development practices, cloud services, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.

Required Technical Skills

- Languages & Frameworks: Strong experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.js.
- Database: Good working knowledge of PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- API Development: Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, API design, authentication, authorization, JWT, and OAuth.
- Version Control: Git and GitHub.
- Cloud: Familiarity with AWS services and cloud-based application deployment.
- Development Practices: Understanding of asynchronous programming, error handling, logging, testing, debugging, and backend application architecture.
- AI-Assisted Development: Experience using AI coding assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar tools as part of the software development lifecycle.

Good to Have

- Experience with TypeScript.
- Familiarity with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, CloudWatch, or similar.




- Experience working with microservices or distributed systems.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and API testing tools.
- Experience optimizing applications for high traffic and large datasets.

Qualifications & Requirements

- 2+ years of professional experience in backend development.
- Strong understanding of Node.js, asynchronous programming, and backend architecture.
- Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, including data modeling, indexing, and query optimization.
- Good understanding of API security, authentication, authorization, and common backend security practices.
- Hands-on familiarity with AWS or another major cloud platform.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve production issues.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and production-ready code.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with a cross-functional engineering team.
- Willingness to learn current technologies and adopt modern engineering practices, including AI-driven development workflows.
- Strong ownership mindset and ability to take features from development through testing, deployment, and production support.
