Role Description:

Mehta And Mehta Law Firm is hiring an Associate Advocate with a minimum of three years' post-qualification experience in litigation for a full-time, in office position based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

We are seeking a capable, motivated, and professionally committed advocate with practical experience in civil litigation, criminal litigation, and property-related disputes , who can work closely with senior lawyers, independently manage assigned matters, and contribute to the firm's litigation, dispute-resolution, and client-advisory practice.

Key Responsibilities:

- Draft, review, and file legal notices, pleadings, petitions, applications, affidavits, replies, written submissions, agreements, legal opinions, and other legal documents
- Conduct legal research and analyse applicable statutes, regulations, judicial precedents, and procedural requirements
- Prepare case briefs, hearing notes, research memoranda, and other materials for case preparation
- Appear before and assist senior counsel in proceedings before courts, tribunals, and other legal authorities
- Independently handle assigned matters, subject to appropriate supervision and reporting
- Develop practical litigation strategies based on the facts, applicable law, and client objectives
- Manage case files and monitor court dates, filing requirements, and procedural deadlines
- Coordinate filings and procedural requirements before courts, tribunals, and government authorities
- Liaise professionally with clients, senior counsel, court staff, and other stakeholders
- Guide, train, and supervise junior associates, interns, and support staff, delegating tasks and reviewing their work for accuracy and quality
- Coordinate with the litigation team to ensure matters are handled efficiently and deadlines are met
- Exposure to taxation, corporate, commercial, or advisory matters will be considered an advantage.

Qualifications:





- LL.B. degree from a recognised institution, with enrolment under the relevant State Bar Council.
- Minimum of three years' post-qualification experience in litigation, with demonstrable practical experience in civil, criminal, and property-related disputes
- Ability to independently draft and review legal notices, plaints, written statements, petitions, affidavits, applications, agreements, legal opinions, and written submissions
- Strong legal-research skills, including interpreting and applying statutes, regulations, and judicial precedents
- Practical experience with court appearances, filing procedures, and case management before courts and tribunals
- Experience supervising, training, and delegating work to junior associates, interns, or support staff
- Strong analytical, organisational, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in Tamil and English is preferred
- Prior experience or working knowledge in taxation, corporate, commercial, or related advisory matters will be an advantage
- Demonstrated commitment to professional ethics, client confidentiality, and responsible legal practice
