About the role

MACLEC is a renewable energy and engineering company developing Surface Hydrokinetic Turbine (SHKT) technology. We are hiring a hands-on AI Manager to plan and implement AI across our business, train existing employees to use AI effectively, and personally build practical digital solutions and creative content for company requirements.

The role combines implementation leadership, staff training, software development, workflow automation, and AI-assisted media production. You should be able to take a business requirement from initial discussion to a working, tested solution and support its day-to-day use.

Key responsibilities

- Assess departmental workflows and develop a practical AI implementation and management plan with priorities, budgets, timelines, responsibilities, and measurable outcomes.
- Work with management and teams to identify useful applications of AI in engineering documentation, project management, procurement, HR, finance, administration, sales, and marketing.
- Deliver role-specific training, hands-on workshops, reusable prompts, SOPs, and reference materials so existing staff can use AI confidently and productively. Measure adoption and provide ongoing support.
- Design, build, deploy,



and maintain company websites, web applications, dashboards, internal portals, and customised tools using AI-assisted development and appropriate software engineering practices.
- Build AI assistants, company knowledge tools, document-processing solutions, and workflow automations; integrate them with approved business applications, databases, and APIs.
- Create and edit AI-assisted videos, animations, product explainers, presentations, graphics, and training content, taking responsibility for accuracy, visual quality, and brand consistency.
- Evaluate AI platforms and tools, run pilots, manage subscriptions and usage costs within approved budgets, and select solutions that meet company needs.
- Establish practical standards for data confidentiality, access control, output verification, copyright/licensing, and human review of important decisions.
- Test and document solutions, maintain source files and reusable assets, resolve problems, and report improvements in turnaround time, quality, cost, and staff productivity.

What we are looking for
- Deep practical knowledge of generative AI, large language models, prompt design, AI workflow automation, and integrating AI into business processes.




- Demonstrated experience delivering working AI solutions, websites/applications, and customised tools, with a portfolio or demonstrations of your own contribution.
- Ability to write, understand, debug, and maintain code in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript, and work with APIs, databases, version control, testing, and deployment.
- Hands-on ability with AI coding assistants, no-code/low-code automation platforms, and AI image, video, animation, and audio tools.
- Ability to train non-technical staff, explain concepts clearly, document workflows, and help teams adopt new ways of working.
- Robust project ownership, problem-solving, stakeholder communication, and ability to prioritise practical business outcomes.
- A relevant degree in computer science, IT, engineering, AI, or a related field is preferred; equivalent demonstrable professional experience is welcome.

Experience with internal knowledge assistants, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, and engineering or manufacturing workflows will be an advantage.
