Role & responsibilities

- Freight &
- Cost Accounting:

Analyze and audit transportation, warehousing, and distribution costs. Ensure accurate allocation of inbound and outbound freight expenses to proper cost centers.

- Vendor &

- Carrier Reconciliation:

Reconcile statements from third-party logistics (3PL) providers, shipping lines, and carriers. Validate vendor invoices against rate sheets, bills of lading, and delivery proofs to identify overcharges.

- Financial Reporting &

- Analysis:

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, specifically highlighting logistics margins, cost-per-mile/kilometer, and operational cost variances.

- Taxation &

- Compliance:

Manage specialized compliance related to transport accounting, including internal audits, Goods and Services Tax (GST) allocations on freight, TDS, and e-way bill reconciliation.

- Inventory Control &

- Variance Analysis:

Partner with warehouse management teams to oversee inventory valuation, monitor in-transit inventory accounts, and resolve discrepancies in stock levels.

- Process Optimization: Identify areas for cost-saving within supply chain operations and recommend financial strategies to optimize vendor utilization and contract pricing structures.

Preferred candidate profile

- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance,



Commerce (B.Com), or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CA Inter, CMA) are a strong plus.

- Experience: Minimum 5 years of progressive professional accounting experience, with at least 23 years spent directly within a logistics, shipping, or supply chain environment.

- Technical Proficiency: Advanced expertise in accounting platforms like Tally Prime/ERP 9 or tier-1 ERP systems (such as SAP FICO / MM modules). High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, financial modeling).

- Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of freight terms (Incoterms), shipping cargo documentation, customs clearance processes, and multi-modal transport billing structures.

- Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving skills, sharp attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to coordinate fluidly between operations and corporate finance.
