Mumbai

Experience: 1–5 years | Junior and experienced candidates welcome

About the role

No Planet B Energy is developing NPB Connect , a digital platform designed to make building data usable across different engineering and energy projects.

Buildings in Germany will be captured using professional 3D laser scanning technology. The resulting point clouds and project data will be securely transferred to our team for further processing.

We are looking for a 3D Scan-to-BIM & Building Data Engineer in Mumbai who will transform this raw building data into structured, accurate and reusable digital project information.

The objective is not simply to create a 3D model.

We want to create a digital building foundation that can be used by energy consultants, architects, PV planners, HVAC engineers, electrical planners and other building professionals without having to start their surveys from scratch.

Your responsibilities

You will receive 3D laser scan and building data from projects in Germany and prepare this information for further engineering and planning.

Your responsibilities will include

- Downloading and securely managing large point-cloud datasets from our server
- Processing and cleaning 3D laser scan data
- Registration and quality control of individual scans
- Preparing point clouds for CAD and BIM workflows
- Creating structured 2D and 3D building information from point clouds
- Creating floor plans, sections, elevations and building geometry where required
- Preparing data for software such as AutoCAD, Revit and other CAD/BIM applications
- Identifying and documenting relevant technical building components visible in the scan data
- Transferring extracted building information into standardized NPB Connect project templates
- Performing quality checks before processed projects are released to planners in Germany
- Developing and improving our internal Scan-to-BIM and building-data standards

Building information to be captured In addition to building geometry, we want to systematically identify and document technical information that is visible or can reasonably be derived from the available project data.

This may include

Building

- Rooms and room dimensions
- Floor areas
- Ceiling heights
- Walls and wall thicknesses where determinable
- Windows and doors
- Roof and façade geometry
- Building orientation
- Relevant construction elements

Heating & HVAC

- Radiators
- Heating systems and boilers
- Heat pumps
- Heating distribution components
- Ventilation systems
- Air-conditioning equipment
- Visible pipes and ducts

Electrical

- Electrical distribution boards
- Meter cabinets
- Relevant electrical equipment
- Cable routes where visible
- Existing EV charging infrastructure

Building envelope & energy

- Visible insulation
- Roof construction
- Façade characteristics
- Windows and glazing information where available
- Potential areas relevant for PV installations

The employee must clearly distinguish between measured/visible information, information obtained from documents, and assumptions . Information that cannot reliably be determined from the available data must not be invented. Standardized NPB Connect project data A key part of the role will be converting scan and building information into a standardized digital project structure.

For example

Building → Floor → Room → Geometry → Building Components → Technical Equipment → Energy Information → Evidence/Data Source The resulting project should allow different professionals to use the same building dataset for different purposes, including:

- Energy consulting
- PV system planning
- Heat-pump planning
- HVAC planning
- Electrical engineering
- EV charging infrastructure
- Architecture
- Renovation planning
- Building documentation
- Future digital-twin applications

Software & technical skills Experience with some of the following would be highly valuable:
- FARO SCENE
- Autodesk ReCap
- Autodesk Revit
- AutoCAD
- CloudCompare
- Point-cloud processing
- Scan-to-BIM
- E57 / RCP / RCS / LAS / LAZ / XYZ / PTS or similar point-cloud formats

Experience with FARO laser scanners is an advantage but not mandatory if you already have strong point-cloud, CAD or BIM experience.

What we are looking for

You may have a background in:

- Civil Engineering
- Architecture
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Building Services / MEP
- BIM
- Surveying / Geomatics
- CAD Engineering
- Digital Construction

We are particularly interested in candidates who understand that this role combines 3D data processing, engineering understanding and structured data management . You should be comfortable working independently with large datasets and communicating with an international engineering team.

Positive English communication skills are required. German is not required .

What makes this role different

This is not a traditional CAD drafting position. You will help us develop a standardized workflow that converts real buildings in Germany into reusable digital engineering projects. Instead of an architect, energy consultant, PV planner and HVAC engineer surveying the same building independently, our objective is to create the building dataset once and make it usable across multiple engineering disciplines.

Over time, you will have the opportunity to help define our standards for 3D building capture, Scan-to-BIM, building data extraction and digital twins .
