- Develop and maintain high-fidelity 1D thermo-hydraulic models using GT-SUITE (GT-ISE, Flow/Cool/Hydraulics) for powertrain system
- Predict and optimize parasitic power consumption (hydraulic pump power, churning/windage losses, drag torque) to maximize overall vehicle range and efficiency.
- In-depth understanding of fluid mechanics, hydraulics, multiphase flow principles, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
- Demonstrated background in modeling powertrain lubrication circuits, hydraulic valve bodies, or e-motor cooling circuits.
- Experience with fluid properties, low-viscosity dielectric fluids/transmission oils, oil aeration, and non-Newtonian behavior under shear/thermal stress.
- Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink or Python for data processing, scripting, and co-simulation.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting 3D CAD models in CATIA/ANSA to extract physical circuit dimensions, line lengths, and volumes.
- Partner closely with physical test, dyno, and rig teams to specify instrumentation (pressure transducers, flow meters, thermocouples) and calibrate 1D simulation models against empirical data.
- Collaborate with 3D CFD engineers (e.g., Star-CCM+, Ansys Fluent) to ingest boundary conditions, flow coefficients, and heat transfer coefficients into 1D lumped-parameter networks.
- Leverage Design of Experiments (DOE) and optimization toolsets (e.g., modeFRONTIER, HEEDS, GT-POST optimization) to determine optimal orifice sizes, line diameters, and pump sizing.
