About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Studio Engineer – Exterior Engineering to join our Automotive Design Studio team at HMIE, Hyderabad.

/n

This role serves as a critical bridge between Styling and Engineering, transforming creative design concepts into technically feasible and production-ready exterior vehicle solutions while preserving the intended design vision. Working closely with Studio Designers and cross-functional engineering teams, the Senior Studio Engineer will lead package integration, feasibility assessments, regulatory compliance activities, and manufacturing readiness evaluations to ensure the successful delivery of world-class exterior systems that meet design, quality, cost, timing, and performance targets.

Required Skills & Experience

/n

/n

- Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline.

/n

- Minimum 10 years of experience in automotive exterior engineering, preferably within an OEM Design Studio, Automotive Design Centre, or vehicle product development environment.

/n

- Strong hands-on experience in:

/n

- Exterior body systems engineering

/n

- Package engineering

/n

- Class-A surface feasibility evaluation

/n

- Design release and implementation activities

/n

- Proven experience collaborating directly with Automotive Design Studio teams and translating styling concepts into robust engineering solutions while maintaining design intent.

/n

- Strong knowledge of global automotive regulations and homologation requirements, including AIS/CMVR, ECE, and FMVSS, with expertise in:

/n

- Lighting systems

/n

- Mirrors and visibility requirements

/n

- Pedestrian protection

/n

- Exterior projections

/n





- Vehicle exterior safety compliance

/n

- Good understanding of:

/n

- Closures integration

/n

- Body structure interfaces

/n

- Press tooling requirements

/n

- Sheet metal stamping feasibility

/n

- Associated manufacturing processes

/n

- Proficiency in CAD and digital engineering tools such as CATIA V5/V6 or equivalent.

/n

- Valuable understanding of materials and manufacturing technologies, including:

/n

- Injection moulding

/n

- Sheet metal stamping

/n

- Blow moulding

/n

- Composite manufacturing

/n

- Assembly and joining processes

/n

- Strong technical problem-solving, communication, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

/n

/n

- Experience working on global vehicle development programs and collaborating with overseas Design and Engineering Centres.

/n

- Knowledge of pedestrian protection development, validation processes, and regulatory requirements.

/n

- Understanding of vehicle aerodynamics, aerodynamic component development, and airflow management strategies.

/n

- Experience in automotive lighting systems development and related regulatory compliance requirements.

/n

- Previous experience with an Indian OEM, Global OEM, or Automotive Design Studio environment will be highly preferred.
