The Underwriting Manager is responsible for assessing client risk profiles, securing competitive terms from insurers, and ensuring smooth placement and issuance of policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Evaluate client risk profiles and prepare underwriting submissions for placement with insurers.
n
- Obtain competitive quotes from multiple insurers and prepare comparative terms for clients. Negotiate premium rates, terms and conditions with insurers to secure optimal coverage for clients.
n
- Coordinate with insurers for policy issuance, endorsements and renewals within agreed turnaround times.
n
- Maintain underwriting records, MIS reports and market intelligence on insurer appetite and pricing trends.
n
- Liaise with sales and servicing teams to align on client requirements and track market developments, new products and regulatory changes affecting underwriting.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
n
n
- Graduate in any discipline (Commerce, Insurance, Risk Management or related field preferred); a diploma/certification in Insurance or Risk Management is an added advantage.
n
- 5–6 years' experience in underwriting or insurance placement, preferably with a broking firm or insurance company.

- Strong understanding of insurance products, underwriting principles and IRDAI regulations.

- Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills with insurers.
n
- Solid analytical, communication and organisational skills.
n
- Ability to manage multiple placements and renewals simultaneously against deadlines.
